This is private residential area with very nice jungle trails, waterfalls and mountain observatories. However, the access is limited to house owners or guest staying at the Luxury Camping Hotel.

Altos del Maria is NOT a tourist attraction. It is a 15 year old privately owned gated community consisting of 15,000 hectares, approximately 1,600 homes and approximately 125 full time residents. It is made up of Panamanians that have second homes and expats that come...More

This is an area with a big private community and you will not have total access to everything. That being said, it is quite picturesque up here and well worth the trip and possibly think about staying in the area.

Went to Altos on a very rainy day. That being said, there isn't a lot to do on a rainy day in Altos. The views are great and the houses are nice. Not much else to say, very secluded, if you're into that.

Should be removed from tripadvisor. Gated community for private houses, nothing touristic there. Furthermore, impossible to go through to el vallee. An ugly side of capitalism.

Yes, Altos del Maria is NOT a tourist attraction for the afternoon nor a national park. It is a 15 year old privately owned gated community consisting of 15,000 hectares, approximately 1,600 homes and approximately 125 full time residents. Many immigrants and Panamanians have homes...More

This place shouldn't be listed on TripAdvisor. It's a private property without public access. In Google maps the streets seem to be public, but finally they weren't. We had to turn back and couldn't pass...
