A nice afternoon in walkenried. The museum does not look it from the outside, but a an absolute must see. The audiotour takes you right back in time, while walking through the old buildings. The tour explains really well the life and time of the monks. You learn about the origins of these klosters.

The site is within 15 mins walk from train station but not enough signs for travller who goes on foot like me. So i followed direction sign for car and finally reached car park. But then i found out there are shorter ways. Adult's entry fee of the indoor museum () costs 4 euro (no student discount). But ruins outside... More

The Walkenried Abbey has been designated part of a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO and oozes of history. The museum is small but informative, with English captions on most of the exhibition. The only downside is was, that they didn't accept VISA credit card when we visited, but thankfully we had cash. Worth a visit. If not just to... More
