A small, but fascinating museum. The history of the area was brought to life really well. Don't miss the adjoining restaurant!

This was a great little museum with lots of interesting information of the history of Kilmartin. I would highly recommend that if you're going to visit the area and see the sites that you start at the museum.

We had a fantastic day here, explored the museum and then walked around grounds, used the map given to explore the outdoors. As it was quite poor weather we drove to next parking area to explore lady glassware wood and the burial sites around.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review of your visit. Kilmartin Glen has a fantastic array of cairns, standing stones, stone circles and rock art - hope you will be able to explore further in better weather on a future visit. More

An interesting little museum which is very child friendly with hands on things for them to do. We Gift Aided our entry fee and got free entry for 12 months as a thank you.

We had booked a logcabin in Davalich to then discover the surroundings. Kilmartin is a big area - not just the museum - which they kitted out just stunningly. Get provisions together and explore. This takes you back in time and we loved it. This whole area is littered with standing stones/circles, huge footprint carved into stones, ringmarks... We went... More

Thanks for your review. April is a great time to visit - usually the driest month, the days are getting longer and as you noticed, the midges are not around. The museum is just the starting point for an exploration of the amazing archeaological landscape all around. It is good to hear you enjoyed your visit. More

A museum in a relatively remote location the Kilmartin museum is on the height of archaeological knowledge! The explanatory texts are written very well and introduce the visitor perfectly into understanding the landscape. I participated in a guided tour (that was for free!) and can only recommend this very much! The museum has a café that offers wonderful café and... More

A small but excellently presented museum telling the story of the glen over the ages. The archaeology is fascinating and the whole area is a little known treasure. I would probably advise visiting the museum before visiting the local sites (of which there are many) to get an overview of the surroundings.

You are right to describe the area of Kilmartin Glen and Mid Argyll as 'a little known treasure' - it certainly deserves to be better known for its archaeology, wildlife and stunning scenery. More
