We've been there not as much as we want (took a jeep safari).
However if and when we'll return there with no doubt we'll spend a week or so just for the Akamas Peninsula!
That's a real and wild enough area of Cyprus!
Hired a quadbike in Latchi for a full day of independent exploration. Lots of organised trips/tours from Paphos but didn’t want to be stuck with organised lunch stop, etc. No tarmac roads so generally unsuitable for ordinary cars - okay for 4x4 but only for...More
We were so naive that we drove a regular car straight to Akamas till we realized the terrain is too much to handle. That way we wasted some time getting back to the main road to hire a buggy. The whole trip to blue Lagoon...More
Me and my husband was interested in this excursion as i wanted to go to the turtle conservation project and he wanted to go to the blue lagoon, this excursion combined both and more! Firstly we went to the avakas gorge which we walked for...More
This place is a treasure
Wild and beautiful
Lots of walking trails
If you drive, you will need a 4x4 or a buggy
If you go walking take plenty of of water with you, it’s remote and gets very hot with not much shade.
There are a few ways to explore this beautiful region and over the years we have been lucky enough to do them all.
“Alkion Glass Bottom Boat “ from Latchi Marina is the cheapest way and is excellent value . Lovely clean boat , friendly...More
What a fabulous day. No issues with the agreed pick up time from our villa. Our guide, Mario was a complete legend..Knowledgeable, entertaining and really friendly...this guy really knows the wildlife and plants in the area. We went to a Avakas Gorge, Lara Beach to...More

Akamas peninsula. (3 Replies)
Hi. How far can you drive in a 4WD vehicle from Lara beach up further is it possible to drive right up to blue lagoon and is there a road back down via polis. To save driving back down again. Thanks

There are roads, but they are unsurfaced and very rough in places. Yes, you can get to the Blue Lagoon from Lara Beach, The road back to Polis from the Blue Lagoon is narrow, extremely rough and has sheer drops on one side so not for the feint hearted. It is signed as a dangerous road and it is. As ttoli says, not all car hire companies allow their cars to be used off tarmac roads so you will need to check very carefully.

Snorkelling S/W Cyprus between Akamas & Episcopi bay? (3 Replies)
We're visiting Cyprus in April and staying in Paphos. I've never been snorkelling in the Med before and from reading other threads it seems that the Paphos area isn't too interesting for snorkelling. Can anyone recommend a good place we can drive to between the Akamas Peninsula and Episkopi Bay? One where the non snorkelling family members can read a book while I'm in the water for 2 hours? E.g. is the area around Coral Bay any good? We're going to visit the Akamas pen for a day trip...More

Lara Bay. There is good snorkelling there and a nice beach too. The drive to it is a bit rough but easily doable in a non 4x4 (check your car insurance covers you for off tarmac driving, many don't.) Avoid Sundays when it gets very crowded.

Hiking and camping in Troodos Mtns with public transport (4 Replies)
Hi, I will be spending a week in Cyprus in September and am thinking of hiking into the Troodos mountains along the E4 route from the Akamas peninsula. I can't find much information on campsite in the forest or in Troodos, or where to get a public bus to Limassol. Can anyone help with more info? Thanks I bought a guide to hiking in Cyprus but it's just info on daytrips.

Try looking at moa.gov.cy. It gives a list of campsites, BTW I know you definitely can cos we did it a few years back. ( hope the facility's are better now tho ).
