A must visit! Dance, drink and dine :)
This place is open most of the week and a great place for dinner (a few places are open for breakfast), but Friday night is when things come alive. There are vendors selling souvenirs, music (lots of dancing) and great food. There are family’s of all ages and it is a great night out. It starts getting busy around 6pm and finishes around 2pm. There are taxis outside waiting to take tourists back when you are done, so if you are not staying nearby a taxi is probably a better option than driving. Wear flat shoes.

    Great grub, great atmosphere!
Fish fry was great every time I went. Great food stalls in every direction serving up everything from bbq chicken to tuna steaks. Be sure to try the famous macaroni pie! Good deals on brews and rum punch in every other stall. Friday night is the busy night although ive been there on quieter evenings and still serving up the goods.

Oistins is not to be missed!!
We went to Oistins after being cautioned by a friend not to go on a Friday night because it was too busy. It was the best experience and I would highly recommend this Friday night activity to any person who is travelling to Barbados. A lot of locals go there for Friday night fish and entertainment and It is packed with people blowing off steam, eating and enjoying the vibe. You will encounter lineups. The best thing to do is to go a little early, say around 530 and get a table and get yourself some refreshments, hopefully, some Banks beer! The place is just hopping and the food is so simple, but so good because most likely it was just taken off the boat that morning. We went to uncle George’s, and were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the fish, how much fish was given and the side dishes. Nothing fancy, but it was so entertaining and the meal was amazing after dinner we wandered around as they had a live band playing, but in another area of oysters there was a huge parking lot with DJ music set up and people were breakdancing and dancing hip-hop so it was a real show. I strongly urge you to take in this local Friday night special because you won’t be sorry!

    Not our Jam
Wasn't our scene. Should have skipped this. But, we saw a turtle and that was great. It's a fish fry and we are vegan so we ate before we came. It's advetised as having a DJ and a live band. There was no live band. There were some guys dancing and a lot of drunk female tourists trying to take one home. Ughh.

    Crystal's Bar and Grill
We go to this area for lunch and the beach when we are on a cruise that stops in Barbados. specifically we like to eat at Crystal's Bar and Grill and get the flying fish plate. it's not crowded at that time of the day, the beach is nice soft white sugar sand with trees that provide shade. LOVE IT!!!!!!

    A fun night out
This was a must do for us on our recent visit to Barbados. Whilst many of the vendors are open during the week Friday night is traditionally the night where the whole of the venue and the surrounding area comes alive. It was suggested to us that we get to the venue around 5.30, then you can walk along the pier, watch the turtles before sunset and then go and spy out the different vendors etc. On a Friday there is usually a craft market and whilst there was some “tourist” products, there were also some very talented artisan produced crafts. It was also recommended that we got a table early, had a few beers and the eat before the venue gets really busy. We went to a food stall that wasn’t in the main square as even as early as we were was getting very full of tourists and families. We had a great meal, I had flying fish and my wife had marlin. These were with all the sides you could want: breadfruit, plantain, macaroni pie and sweet potatoes. The stage is set up in the centre and you will see breakdancing and if lucky a Michael Jackson impersonator who is really very good. A real must go to for a fun Barbados night out.

Don’t miss this! Delicious food, great atmosphere mixing with locals. Fantastic experience and tasty food at really good value. Local entertainers make a great watch and loads of little stalls to wander around. Set at the fresh fish market by the beach. Watch the sunset with a Banks or Deputy local beer or rum and take in the atmosphere on a Friday. Still worth visiting in the week although much quieter as food is great.

    Loved it !
First off let me start by saying … This isn’t for anyone with a stick up their butt! If you don’t mind crowds and loud music then you’re in for a good time here . It essentially feels like a carnival (a Caribbean carnival of course) and being from the Caribbean I was used to this kind of atmosphere. At no point did I ever felt unsafe and even asked a few strangers to take some pictures for my husband and I. There’s ton of local food options, the main being fish of course . There’s beautiful craft selling close to the beach and there’s people dancing and having a good time . Please bare in mind that the food being sold are street food meaning they are made and prepared in the stalls of the vendors which have accompanying grills . This is not a 5 star dining experience but you will have tasty food nonetheless. Go early if you want to avoid crowds , but stay if you want to have a truly local experience!

    Great experience! Fun evening out
Spent a week in Barbados, and the hotel desk said this was a must experience and glad i took their advice! Took the bus down for $2 and got there around 630. By that time, there was already a huge line for Pat's, the preferred vendor. So get there early. Besides endless food vendors, there are local crafts and plenty of souvenirs. Music is blasting, which sets a great vibe, and everyone is having fun. Bajan Michael Jackson performance was excellent. Great performers all around. The food is fantastic too. If you're not into fish, there is a KFC and Chefettes right there. It's definitely worth visiting if you can go on a Friday night. Would highly recommend

If you want to experience this be here by 5pm, watch the sunset, find somewhere to sit and enjoy your meal, the fish is good and reasonably priced.
Or book a transfer from the cruise terminal which leaves at 6, takes 1 hour 10 minutes to get there ( 20 minutes to get back ) then join a q for 90 minutes ( make sure the person in front of you is ordering for at least 10 friends ) pay and collect your side orders and cutlery, then go and join another q to watch your fish being cooked.
If you are really lucky the bus back will be 10 minutes late picking you up and the heavens will have opened.

Went to Pat, s as recommended
Even on Thursday, place was pretty busy.
Very very slow service
Huge plate of food
Lots of coleslaw, macaroni cheese pie, salad then dish of the day. Nah I Mahi is always the fish of the day, every day, everywhere in Barbados!!!!
Fish was soft, fresh and had a blackened look. Nothing else great as such to taste. Ate better Mahi Mahi elsewhere.
Food feels cheap as it’s OK if you had a big appetite
Behind us was a stage for Karaoke. OMG the rubbish singers , mostly out of tune guys and some very tipsy for sure. Very loud music.
We didn’t rate it at all

Walked past this during the day, filthy dirty , local homeless folk sleeping where they serve food.
Came to see what all the hype was about on a Friday night , long ques, over crowded, over priced food, no where to sit , we ended up in eating in the Kfc across the road , along with alot of the locals , who preferred the Kfc themselves!
Heard alot of hotel guests were ill after eating in Oistins!! dont bother doing a organised trip here. Over priced , over rated. Avoid in my option.

This was reccommeded by every review on Fodor's guide at a must do when in Barbados. We were not dissappointed. The lines are long and finding a seat in the communal dining setting can be challenging but it's all part of the experience. Everyone at our table was happy and enjoying chatting while waiting for the food. We ate at Pat's Place as was recommended by our hotel. We actually odered with one of the wait staff and not at the counter as is custom. Our waitress was extremely helpful and friendly even though she was up to her eyeballs with orders and rushed off her feet. We had the Mahi Mahi and Grilled Kingfish. We both loved the Mahi Mahi, it was meaty, yet light and flaky and just melted in your mouth. The Kingfish was okay, the portion was huge but is was solid, more tightly compacted and a little chewy. Overall, we really enjoyed the whole experience, the music, the stalls and the atmosphere and I agree with the reviews, this is a must if in Barbados on a Friday night.

Fantastic experience at the legendary Oistins Fish Fry. Really busy, but bustling and safe atmosphere. The food is served on plastic plates with plastic forks, but the quality is amazing. Not everything on the menu is available every time (depends on catch), also offers chicken as well as fish.

Good value for money and the music is incredible, especially with the young locals dancing their routines to the music.

We travelled by public bus from the West Coast without any hitches, although buses tend to be more infrequent after around 8.30, so be prepared to wait a while.

Excellent value for the moneyI have been coming to Barbados for over 20 years and finally went to Oistines. I then returned for two more nights because it was so good. Excellent local cuisine at a very reasonable price. The atmosphere is very fun. It is not fine dining if that is what you were looking for but the food is better or as good as any restaurant I have ever been in in Barbadoes

I had managed to get myself all stressed out about visiting this place too late in the day on account of others’ reviews, thinking it might all be a bit intense. We therefore visited early, around 7pm, and stayed for a couple of hours. Honestly, I quite enjoyed it and there was nothing too remarkable about it: it’s just a selection of different vendors serving fish dishes with lots of communal seating about the place. If you live in London or any other busy city the vibe will not be anything new. The live music was kicking off as we were leaving, but it felt like it was going to be good fun, and a nice (if mainly tourist at the time we visited) crowd.

I would second other reviewers’ remarks about drinks being expensive within the market. If you want to save yourself some money, I would recommend bringing your own drinks or buying a few cans of lager from the petrol station across the road. Okay, okay, I won’t be popular with everyone for saying that, but, trust me, these vendors are making a small fortune every Friday night — whether you buy drinks from them or not. Enjoy!

We got to Oistin's about 6 and it was very lively with people already eating. We had a walk about and went onto the pier to watch the sun set. We choose some where to eat and sat at long tables with other people. It is not the greatest of meals but there was plenty of food and the place was buzzing. We then went to the stage area and watched people dancing while we sat and drank rum punch. It was a fun evening that I'm glad we did but there was no need to repeat it the second week of our holiday.

Be prepared if you do this trip. It is horrendously busy and you have no idea where to queue or what to do. We finally ate at Annie’s at the fat end which was over priced and not particularly good for the $20 USD each we paid. I appreciate it’s a busy evening but we waited well over an hour for five shrimps and chips x 4. The table next to us had one of their orders forgotten. If they are doing this every Friday evening, then they should be more organised. Wouldn’t go again.

We went at 6pm which was a perfect time to go to watch the sunset before it got too busy. We ate at Chillin and Grillin which was great and the crowds did not affect the quality of the food. Fish cutter was the best I had all week.
