    Friday night
Arrived early, around 4.30, so not much happening. Went with friends who aren't fish lovers, only went so I could experience it. Had a walk around, had a few beers, checked out some of the stalls selling shoes, jewelry etc. Started getting very busy as the sun set. I enjoyed what I saw but didn't buy/eat any food as no one else wanted to eat. I will definitely try it again next time but will go on my own. Its a definite if you like fish, the smells from the bbq fish was amazing.

    Good quality but not cheap!
Went here first Friday in December. Atmosphere is great, lots of crowds, music, entertainment. Lots of tourists about and the prices are higher than I’ve seen quoted in some travel guides so think they’ve capitalised on the tourists in recent years. Menus at all the places are quite similar - we ate at Yvonne’s, which has a few bad mentions on here - but the food was really good, decent portion of fish, cooked fresh on BBQ in front of us. Served with sides which were also nice. BUT either the rum punch was a tiny glass for 20 dollars or they added a service charge to our bill as for 2 punches and 2 fish platters it was 115 dollars. Which is £~50. So not a cheap night out! Would go back but probably try a different place and/or just go for food and not a drink!

    It's all about the atmosphere
We loved this Not everyone will as you have to wait ages for food but it's all about the atmosphere as well as the food. We met some nice people to chat to. while we waited for our food. Bajans don't eat fish like we do in the UK. It's not fishy. They soak it in lime and salt water and it becomes more of a meaty texture. (no fishy smell if you are not keen on fishy smells) I loved it and I love all fish anyway however its cooked. Pries were reasonable. And there's some market stalls too with some Bajans selling their wares. We just really enjoyed the whole atmosphere but if you don't like crowds, don't go on a Friday - the rest of the week is much quieter.

Nice Friday Night Out to Sample Local Cuisine
I went to Oistin's Friday Night Fish Fry with some friends on a girls' trip (weekend away). It was a good outdoor activity, There are quite a few stalls from which to choose your meal along with a DJ and live outdoor music which prompts spontaneous dancing. It can be a bit noisy depending on where you sit but overall it was a nice experience. I would do it again.

    A must do evening out.
We made our own way there using one of the many reggae buses, theyre small mini buses that toot their horns at you to see if you want a ride, they can get a bit crowded at about £1.50/journey its an experience. The fish fry area has a large number of stalls and bars cooking and serving the catch of the day. It is a very popular event which attracts a lot of people . There is a stage area where locals showoff there dancing skills and then come round with a hat for donations , this creates a great party atmosphere.

    Honest opinion
Maybe worth going for the ‘Friday night’ experience but not much else, it’s VERY busy and you need to be prepared to wait (possibly some time) for food and be hassled by touts trying to get you into their eateries. The food was ok but nothing special and I have a sneaky feeling they charge tourists more…. It didn’t bother me but there were drugs being openly smoked/sold so please be aware. We were later told that Thursday/Saturdays are the better nights to go - Friday is very much a ‘tourist trap’ in my opinion.

Nice trip on a Friday night
This is fun on a Friday night but don't expect too much as its a fairly small place but worth a visit. We eat at Mo's place which is next to the stage and next to Pat's place. Everyone says go to Pat's place but the queue is insane and the food at Mo's was really nice - I had tuna with coleslaw (awesome) and fries. My wife had the BBq chicken which was also lovely. We went from Sandals at about 5.30 on the ZR crazy buses (you must try them!) and probably stayed till about 8pm but the whole thing goes on till the early hours.

    You must visit!
What an absolute treat of a night! Everyone that we know that has visited the island told us we had to go, so rather than book with a tour operator we used a local taxi, we were dropped right outside the gates and given some recommendations on where to eat. We chose Yvonne’s and certainly weren’t disappointed. The food was amazing as was the entertainment on the outdoor stage. Great music, great food and importantly lots of local rum.

    A MUST DO EXPERIENCE
A must do for everyone who visits Barbados! Fab music, incredible food....the choice is endless!...and great atmosphere. If travelling from a different part of the island like we did leave yourself extra time as the Friday traffic is bad... think it was because so many travel for the Fish Fry!

    Best Fish Fry
Definitely a must visit place, the atmosphere was great, lots of choices for food and drinks. Amazing people and just a good vibe. There are multiple vendors that offers a variety of food options and the prices are very reasonable.

If you want to experience this be here by 5pm, watch the sunset, find somewhere to sit and enjoy your meal, the fish is good and reasonably priced.
Or book a transfer from the cruise terminal which leaves at 6, takes 1 hour 10 minutes to get there ( 20 minutes to get back ) then join a q for 90 minutes ( make sure the person in front of you is ordering for at least 10 friends ) pay and collect your side orders and cutlery, then go and join another q to watch your fish being cooked.
If you are really lucky the bus back will be 10 minutes late picking you up and the heavens will have opened.

Went to Pat, s as recommended
Even on Thursday, place was pretty busy.
Very very slow service
Huge plate of food
Lots of coleslaw, macaroni cheese pie, salad then dish of the day. Nah I Mahi is always the fish of the day, every day, everywhere in Barbados!!!!
Fish was soft, fresh and had a blackened look. Nothing else great as such to taste. Ate better Mahi Mahi elsewhere.
Food feels cheap as it’s OK if you had a big appetite
Behind us was a stage for Karaoke. OMG the rubbish singers , mostly out of tune guys and some very tipsy for sure. Very loud music.
We didn’t rate it at all

Walked past this during the day, filthy dirty , local homeless folk sleeping where they serve food.
Came to see what all the hype was about on a Friday night , long ques, over crowded, over priced food, no where to sit , we ended up in eating in the Kfc across the road , along with alot of the locals , who preferred the Kfc themselves!
Heard alot of hotel guests were ill after eating in Oistins!! dont bother doing a organised trip here. Over priced , over rated. Avoid in my option.

This was reccommeded by every review on Fodor's guide at a must do when in Barbados. We were not dissappointed. The lines are long and finding a seat in the communal dining setting can be challenging but it's all part of the experience. Everyone at our table was happy and enjoying chatting while waiting for the food. We ate at Pat's Place as was recommended by our hotel. We actually odered with one of the wait staff and not at the counter as is custom. Our waitress was extremely helpful and friendly even though she was up to her eyeballs with orders and rushed off her feet. We had the Mahi Mahi and Grilled Kingfish. We both loved the Mahi Mahi, it was meaty, yet light and flaky and just melted in your mouth. The Kingfish was okay, the portion was huge but is was solid, more tightly compacted and a little chewy. Overall, we really enjoyed the whole experience, the music, the stalls and the atmosphere and I agree with the reviews, this is a must if in Barbados on a Friday night.

Fantastic experience at the legendary Oistins Fish Fry. Really busy, but bustling and safe atmosphere. The food is served on plastic plates with plastic forks, but the quality is amazing. Not everything on the menu is available every time (depends on catch), also offers chicken as well as fish.

Good value for money and the music is incredible, especially with the young locals dancing their routines to the music.

We travelled by public bus from the West Coast without any hitches, although buses tend to be more infrequent after around 8.30, so be prepared to wait a while.

Excellent value for the moneyI have been coming to Barbados for over 20 years and finally went to Oistines. I then returned for two more nights because it was so good. Excellent local cuisine at a very reasonable price. The atmosphere is very fun. It is not fine dining if that is what you were looking for but the food is better or as good as any restaurant I have ever been in in Barbadoes

We got to Oistin's about 6 and it was very lively with people already eating. We had a walk about and went onto the pier to watch the sun set. We choose some where to eat and sat at long tables with other people. It is not the greatest of meals but there was plenty of food and the place was buzzing. We then went to the stage area and watched people dancing while we sat and drank rum punch. It was a fun evening that I'm glad we did but there was no need to repeat it the second week of our holiday.

Be prepared if you do this trip. It is horrendously busy and you have no idea where to queue or what to do. We finally ate at Annie’s at the fat end which was over priced and not particularly good for the $20 USD each we paid. I appreciate it’s a busy evening but we waited well over an hour for five shrimps and chips x 4. The table next to us had one of their orders forgotten. If they are doing this every Friday evening, then they should be more organised. Wouldn’t go again.

We went at 6pm which was a perfect time to go to watch the sunset before it got too busy. We ate at Chillin and Grillin which was great and the crowds did not affect the quality of the food. Fish cutter was the best I had all week.

We have been coming to Oistins on Friday night whenever we are on the island. We were wondering what the situation would be like with Covid; while the crowds were much lower, about half of the stalls were open. There was no live music but the fish is as good as ever. Enjoyed our meal at Pat’s Place and from the number of locals lining up to take away, you know that you were getting quality fresh food. This time we tried the swordfish and flying fish. Delicious!
