About Island Explorer Tours
Our six (6) hour Coastal Tour of Barbados begins in Oistins Town with our Explorers being picked up from their Hotels at approximately 8.45- 9.15 a.m. Once we have all aboard our exploration takes us around the beautiful coastline of Barbados, making four (4) leisurely stops and passing through our Capital – Bridgetown and along the West Coast of the Island and onto our first stop at North Point. Next we head to our refreshment stop at Cherry Tree Hill, this is where our explorers are served some traditional Bajan bite sized treats and drinks as we enjoy one of the most incredible views Barbados has to offer. We then head off to explore the rugged East Coast of the Island making our way to our Lunch Stop at Martins Bay. Lunch is served at a seaside Restaurant; this Restaurant is a real gem of a place as it mostly caters to locals so our explorers are guaranteed real “Bajan” food. We then set off to see more of the countryside and on to one of the most beautiful off the beaten track beaches Barbados has to offer. Our Explorers are then returned to their hotels at approximately 3.00 – 3.15 p.m. Our leisurely Tour Stops are:- • North Point • Cherry Tree Hill • Martins Bay (for lunch) • Beachy Head Beach Our expedition is led by Barbadian born Mario Williams, whose family has been involved in the island Tour business since the early 1970’s with his father Lawrence Williams being the first man to start an organized day tour of the Island. Mario uses his extensive knowledge of the Island delivering its history and geography with passion while also sharing many life experiences and humor that his guests find to be most entertaining. As our Tour only takes a maximum of nine (9) this sets the stage for a very intimate day out, and our philosophy is to start as strangers and end as friends!

Want to leave Barbados feeling like you’ve seen a lot of the island and learnt it’s history? Do this tour with Mario! We booked this as we wanted something a bit more fun than a bus tour. It was our best day of the holiday! Mario was super warm and welcoming and told us all about each place we visited, he kept checking if we had any questions but his commentary that is played loud and clear through the speakers more than answered most things we could think of. We went all the way around the island taking in lots of beaches, Bridgetown, where Rhianna grew up, Sandy Lane, up to the highest point of the island and the north with secret views of the mesmerising rough waves against the rocks that you wouldn’t find on your own. We had a lovely lunch (like what you get at Oistins) at a fab local restaurant with amazing views, and Mario even had little treats for us as a mid morning snack - homemade cake breads and traditional sweets with a little rum too! As well as the history of each place Mario also had lots of tales to share with us of his life growing up on the island and that was really nice mixed in with all general history. Doing this tour has made our mind up that we definitely need to return as Mario shown us so much of the island in one day that we would like to see more of. It’s well worth the money and he also takes photos for you to save from his Facebook page. Thank you for a brilliant day Mario! Laura & Dan

Booked the tour through our hotel purely through being lazy ourselves. Mario picked us up at 08:30 and off we ventured. Mario is an excellent guide and you’ll learn things about the island and also have a great laugh along the way. Rum drinks on cherry tree hill was one of the highlights followed by a great local lunch in Martins Bay. This was by far the highlight of our break and I would highly recommend. Saw some of the opposition tours during the day, all of them had empty seats whilst ours was full, says a lot, he’s just far better. Book it, you’ll love it. 100%

A really informative and lovely tour of the Island with a small group of no more than eight with our very knowledgeable guide Mario. Plenty of stops to soak in the sun and the sights. What I really enjoyed was the changing character of Barbados from the rustic old town past Rihanna Drive and up to where the rich and famous frequent. My one big feedback to Island Explorer was the lack of water supplied. Whilst we all did bring a bottle, it would be more than reasonable to expect our water to be replenished particularly as this was a six hour day driving around in the heat. That said, we had rum and home made cake stop, followed by a local Bajan lunch. In my view water is a must by the tour.
