Join us at Surf Barbados for our beginner / intermediate Surf adventure which will ensure you get the most out of your Surfing Vacation. This adventure is designed for people who would like to Learn to Surf or those who wish to simply improve their Surfing. You will be Surfing the best breaks Barbados has to offer with a professional Surf instructor that has years of local knowledge and experience. Our Surf School is setup for small groups so you can receive the necessary attention to make rapid progress throughout the week.

Lifetime Memory!

Myself and my wife had our first proper surf lesson with Matthew one of the instructors, it was like spending time with Mr Miagi from Karate Kid! He gave us detailed yet simple instructions and within 3 attempts we were both up on our feet! Matthew had my wife turning along the waves, his attention to each of our runs enabled him to give tips and advice to adjust what we were doing to get a more successful run.
2 hrs flew by! The heavens opened while we were out but we carried on, surfing in the torrential rain was like a biblical experience!
A lifetime memory for sure.
Thanks to Matthew and the rest of the guys for being so welcoming and getting us up! 🏄‍♂️🏄‍♀️👍

Very good board rental possibilities

For experienced surfers who, for any reason, do not travel with a board, you will be very pleased with the selection of boards for hire at Barry's. And, in a place that is know for being expensive the board rental price was reasonable.
What I paid for a board for 5 to 7 days was less then I would have been charged by the airline for bringing boards round trip from Norway.
During my next visit I may well take advantage of a surf excursion. People I met at Barry's shop had just returned from a surf excursion and they were all in a great mood and smiling.
I also was in the water watching surf school sessions on a couple occasions. I've been a surf instructor my self for over 15 years and it was easy to see the high caliber of teaching, and the success of the students, at the Barry's Surf School sessions.

Great 3 Day Course With Matthew

I had a group class with Matthew. Great instructor, really enjoyed my time in the water. Good on-shore facilities with showers. Very close to the water so not to far to walk with the boards.

Feedback from Matthew was invaluable, really helped me improve over three days, go to ride 10 -12 waves each class.

Excellent surf instruction + a really fun time

One of the main reasons that I wanted to return to Barbados, after my first trip there seven years ago, was so that I could have more lessons with Barry’s Surf School. They’re that good. What makes them so great? It’s a combination of things--a mix of expert surf instruction along with a good dose of easy-going fun. It’s such a treat to be in the water with the instructors, Matt and Andrew. We always have a good laugh along with some awesome waves, and we sustained this for five weeks! On the practical front, what’s also great about Barry’s, especially for me as an intermediate surfer, is that they know where the waves are best on any particular day and for my particular level, and they take me there. Just throw my board in the jeep and off we go! And once we're in the water, they have really good tips about how I can improve my surfing. Also, Christie is always on top of the lesson schedule and she’s a joy to communicate with. Can’t wait until next time, Barry’s!

Fantastic surf school

This was my second year in a row surfing at Barry's and I'm so glad I returned. They are such professionals and take the time to make sure you have an excellent experience from providing top notch instructors, making sure you are on the right board and they also made sure we surfed at a variety of breaks to experience different spots in Barbados, all of which were beautiful beaches. We did 6 lessons over a week with 4 different instructors, all of whom were excellent. Their tips were so helpful and we improved so much over the course of a few lessons. They cater for all levels and are so friendly you really feel like they are invested in helping you progress. The instructors are in control at all times. There were a couple of sessions where the water was crowded with beginner surfers but the instructors are brilliant at getting you out of the way of the crowd so it doesnt feel too busy or like you are too close to others. Highly recommend these guys for surf lessons!

I had a great experience at Barry's surf school. They have a great selection of boards and boundless enthusiasm for the sea and surfing. Matthew who instructed me was super knowledgeable and I really felt my surfing improved under his guidance.

Great experience

Christie was super helpful and prompt with all communication leading up to the booking plus was a big help with all of our island questions. And Matt's instruction was awesome. His ability to help beginners to intermediates was perfect. What was awesome to watch was one of Barry's others instructions giving pointers while riding a wave alongside my wife. We will be back.

Fantastic surf school

Had a fantastic holiday enhanced by the great team at Barrys Surf School . Went to three different breaks as part of the surf stronger package with board rental included for the week . The excellent friendly communication through the booking process , the warm welcoming faces at the surf school base, the open Land Rover defender ride in the Caribbean sun to each break , the expert tuition , not to mention surfing warm turquoise Caribbean waters dotted with turtles , the whole experience was first class and now feels like a dream back in the dark grey work obsessed UK. Need to mention my wife and kids thoroughly enjoyed the beginner lessons as the beach adjacent to the school and were all standing up on the board within an hour of starting .

Thanks to all the team and I would urge anyone going to Barbados to try and or improve their surfing with Barry’s Surf school , they won’t regret it !

Barry’s Surf School Rocks! A Must Do While in Barbados.

For the second year in a row my three boys (15, 12 and 7) and I went surfing with Barry’s Surf School‘s amazing staff. I cannot say enough good things about the staff and our experience. First, Christie makes you feel as part of her family. Second, the instructors are fantastic. This year we went surfing with Andrew and D’Angelo and they were great taking such great care of the boys—all of which had the rides of their lives (they also got to see many sea turtles as bonus). If you have young kids and teenagers who would like to learn how to surf I highly recommend you visit Barry’s Surf School! Thank you Christie and hopefully see you again next year!

A brilliant day surfing

One of the highlights of our holiday. Andre was a very patient, caring and enthusiastic teacher for my family (husband and wife in 40s, girls aged 6 and 8). We all stood up by the end of the two hour session. Andre was particularly caring with the girls, but the rest of Barry’s team including his son, also helped, gave advice and encouragement when in the water. Highly recommended!
