There are dozens of companies offering you Jeep safaris in Samui and choosing one does require a bit of research and a bit of luck.
My wife and I did not want to watch any poor animals being used for our entertainment, so this eliminated many companies, also some offer a long list of stops including tourist traps to get you to spend money and leave you little time to actually see the jungle.
We found Feel Travel Samui Tours in the Trip Advisor listings offering Jeep Safari-Jungle and Waterfalls, however it only had 2 reviews but both 5 star but we just had a good feeling about it so went ahead and booked.
Philip confirmed to us the pick up time from our hotel, and on the day contacted us via hotel reception phone apologising as the driver was running late - good customer service.
We were taken along with some other travellers to his restaurant where fresh coffee or soft drinks were offered. Our group of ten then met our driver and our guide a Thai who spoke good English.
We drove to the Northern Mountains first passing many plantations before climbing up some very steep roads which then become very rough tracks, great fun especially as 2 people take turns to sit on seats over the cab for more of an adrenalin rush. It is all very safe as the drivers are very skilful and everyone wears seatbelts. There are a few stops at various view points and then you ascend to the highest point in Koh Samui with 360° views. When everyone is ready you start the descent to Tarnims Magic Gardens, a beautiful spot made by one man. At all times there are snacks, cold soft drinks and beer available at no charge.
By the time you have finally descended you are in the south of Samui and from here it's back upto Namuang Waterfall II, beautiful and with a chance to swim in the pool at the base. Finally when everybody is ready it's off to a restaurant with amazing views for a fabulous late lunch. Don't snack to much before you get there as the food is amazing and there is so much again all included. After this you are taken back to your hotels.
As you can see it's not a rushed tour, but one that has thrills and spills, a very informative guide and the time to really see the real jungle.
For me the only disappointment was the sd card in my GoPro got corrupted and I lost all the filming. Heyho, enjoy.
