When in Turkey, make time to visit the Miletus: whilst there is a fair bit of walkingthe view and amphitheatre are just so impressive, and the sight of wild crocus growing amonst the rubble was a real plus.

the site is spread out over a large area. Not as well preserved as other sites but still worthwhile, especially if you are doing Prienne and Didyma as well.

Miletus is the ruins of an ancient port, There is not much information on boards around the site. The theatre is quite impressive. Got there by taxi from Kusadasi which also took us to Priene and Didymus

Another ancient town, only 3% uncovered. A redundant visit given the other 2 we had visited but interesting none the less.

Brilliant site filled with history. Ruins were great but a little unkempt. Not as crowded as Ephesus

As we had visited Ephesus two years ago, we decided to see Miletus this time. Same story as Ephesus - ancient city, harbour silted up and then abandoned - but the extraordinary remains of the amphitheatre and the Roman baths were not buried, just abandoned....More

Well worth a visit, hidden gem! Be wary of bugs and take plenty of water as the walking makes for thirsty work. Also take water with you as can be expensive here.

This is an amazing place, very well preserved! It takes at least 2 hours to visit it, so make sure you have some fresh water with you, along with proper shoes, sun hat and sun glasses. The entrance fee is higher than at Priene -...More
