My wife and I visited here on the last day of our holiday and it was the perfect way to finish. We arrived, the only couple, for a tour of the castle and cellars with the Tuscan snack and wine tasting option. Our guide Giuila was excellent, so pleasant and helpful! She gave us a fascinating history of the Frescobaldi family, castle and vineyards as well as a description of the wine production which culminated with the wine tasting and Tuscan snack in the villa. Let`s just say that after the "snack" we didn`t need any dinner that evening and the wine was superb! Hey, if it`s good enough for Prince Charles to visit.........

I would thoroughly recommend visiting here to anyone considering it. We loved it and would come again, thank you Giulia.

Visited with a wine tour group and this estate did not disappoint. A lovely tour of the cellars and historic buildings, followed by a 4 course meal accompanied by three of the estate red wines.

Very welcoming and accommodating staff and a beautiful location. Well worth a visit.

I had a group of 16 who wanted to do a winery tour. It's not easy finding a winery that can accommodate a group of that size, however; Castello Nipozzano was very accommodating.

From the first communication with Laura, I felt that we were in good hands. She was very easy to work with and made confirmation and payment a breeze. She also happens to be one of the best winery tour guides I have ever encountered (and I live in Napa Valley and work at a winery!!). From the 1000's of years of history, to the education of the wine making process over the centuries, to the amazing wine paired with a selection of local meats & cheeses, this experience exceeded ALL of our expectations. I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Went there with a group of friends to better learn the history of wine making in Tuscany. Stunning views, charming old part of the castle, awesome food and, of course, the top of this experience - wine tasting. Nipozzano belongs to Frescobaldi family and is one of the oldest wineyards they have, which guarantees you perfect quality and absolutely unforgettable experience.
The castle also has a little guesthouse, which is located in the old olive oil production room (the only things that stayed from that times are pictures, but they have a cozy fireplace, wonderful view on the wineyards and a balcony).
Don't forget to try the olive oil too! Another hidden gem of this place.
Highly recommended for everyone.

My 100th review on TA is for a very special place. The beautiful Castello di Nippozano is worth the drive and extra effort to visit. Make an appointment in advance to visit the property. The estate is located 40 minutes from Florence (we hired a private driver we found on Tripadvisor for a total of 4 hours). The historic property dates back to the 1400's and is one of 9 estates owned by the Frescobaldi family. The family has been making wine for 30 generations, and we felt privileged to have a private tour and tasting during our recent visit to Tuscany. We spent about two hours total at the estate, and we were treated like valued guests. The views of the valley and village below are stunning, and the four wines we tasted were wonderful . The experience was so personal and completely different from other large estate tasting tours. Special recognition goes to Stefani, who went out of her way to help schedule our visit and spent time with just me and my husband on her last appointment of the day (3:00). It was the perfect afternoon, and a special memory we will cherish. We brought back wine, honey, and the Frescobaldi steak knife sets in our checked luggage, but the breathtaking photos are my favorite souvenir. If you are staying in Florence, the Frescobaldi family chapels in the Santo Spirito church are also worth visiting to compliment the family history you will learn on the tour.

Have been a big fan of Chianti Rufina Nipozzano Reseve for several years. Decided to tour the winery when I discovered it was only 30 minutes east from our hotel in Florence. Emailed Laura at Frescobaldi's Nipozzano Castle Winery to confirm our tour and she gave me a list of drivers. Giuseppe met us at our hotel and he drove us to the winery. A beautiful drive out of Florence east through several small towns including where Frescobaldi's headquarters are located, plus they own all the land for miles around the Castle. We arrived on the castle estate and arrive at Enoteca Nipozzano. We got out and walked into the store and met Laura. We were the first of 3 couples. We were seated at a table for 6 all set for our tour and wine tasting. The other couples arrived and so did Annalisa our guide for the tour of the property. First we went to an a storage cellar off the showroom. We learned about the 700 year ownership the Frescobaldi family married into. The wines they shared with Pope Leo X and Michelangelo. The grapes they brought from France and merged with Italian grapes and all their innovative methodologies. We then went outside to explore the beautiful grounds and walked to the famous 1000 year old castle, which survived WWII bombings. We saw more cellars in the castle, including the home to the Frescobaldi personal cellars. Where each newborn son gets 500 bottles at birth and each daughter 100!! Lamberto Frescobaldi's(current patriarch of the family owned corporation) personal wine cellar. Then walked back to the showroom were treated to sparkling wine(aka Frscobaldi champagne), then at and had 3 full glasses each of three premier Frscobaldi Chiantis and blends, with various meats and cheeses. We learned about the two young couples we were eating with. One from Toronto and the other from Montreal. We all were Frescobaldi wine lovers before coming here. Now even more so. Do not miss this tour. We also got a driver referred from the winery to drive us to and from our hotel.

The wine tasting was a unique experience. We were met by our guide who took us over the grounds and showed us the operation.

Then we sat down for what was advertised as a "light" lunch and it turned out to be a full three course lunch, which was handmade and delicious and served with accompanying wine (all you wanted to drink!).

The wine tasting itself was comprehensive and interesting. I ended up buying a case of various wines.

We had the absolute pleasure of discovering this gem in the heart of Tuscany. Nipozzano is both a castle and a wine estate complete with panoramic view of the vines, friendly shop staff, a mouthwatering menu and accommodations available. Having enjoyed the full spectrum of services here: from lunch, to lodging to wine tour, tasting and buying, we can say it is truly enjoyable. The tour is a very interesting step back into history and the wines themselves are aromatic, flavorful, elegant and reasonably priced. In the centuries-old castle, we had a traditional four-course Tuscan feast. The room was just gorgeous, with a comfortable bed and bathroom with tub, views of the vineyards (and boars outside at night – not to worry, they are quiet). There is a living room and kitchen in the common area shared by all the rooms, as well as an outdoor terrace and large jacuzzi. It is not easy to know where to go in Tuscany to have a great wine experience, but we have found the place!

Special thanks to everyone who contributed to our stay: Alessandro the Chef, Marzia and Silvana who took care of our breakfast and tidied the rooms, Giacomo and Giulia in the hospitality team, Monica who carefully attended to us at lunch and Laura in the shop who gives great advice about wine and the region as a whole.

We arrived to the castle. We were a bit scared that castle was closed but we finally met our guide. There was no one expect us two and the guide. (yeah, a private tour). The guide showed us around the castle and took her time. She had very good english and we kept joking and enjoying our time together.
The castle is nice, but the food, views and wine were A-MA-ZING. We had a whole table for ourselves and got to taste several wines.
We did not feel like a bunch of tourist following a guide tour everywhere.

I strongly recommend this tour. The price is worth it. We tried other winery tours and none is as good as this one.

Went there when closed to just had the view and walk around the top of the castle, but also had no one else around, and could take in the castle and scenery. Its a short drive off the main road and even without the internal access it was a lovely walk along the top of castle, and short 20min break.
