About
A technical historical monument, the steam-powered Brewery of Lobec near Mseno is a witness of the five-hundred-years old tradition of beer brewing in the Kokorin region. The first written reference to the brewery dates back to 1586, while the Renaissance core of the existing structure was built around 1600. Between 1894 and1897, Rudolf Cicvarek, a lawyer and owner of the estate, had the original modest artisanal manufactory - once possession of the local gentry of Veznik - rebuilt to become a steam-powered production unit. The project was authored by a renowned engineer, Johan Rosenberg. Since 2007, the premises are possessed by RIOFRIO architectural platform and the exemplary redevelopment and revival of the brewery as a tourist attraction of the Kokorinsko protected landscape area is in progress. The brewery was declared a cultural monument by the Ministry of Culture in 2009...

Great place, very friendly staff and wonderful service. Tour around the brewery was super interesting and we enjoyed all the details and the history as well as technology of making the beer. We absolutely recommend to visit, taste the beer and traditional Czech food 👍🤩👍

Had a great time staying in the loft-conversion apartment at the brewery. The apartment was warm, clean, well-equipped and spacious. Tried all six of the brewery’s excellent beers and really enjoyed the guided tour of the restored brewery and the micro-brewery. I recommend it to all.

Great beer and a very interesting tour. You should definitely try beer tasting at the end of the tour to have a chance to drink beer right out of the brewing container. You'll get a chance to try out smoked and herbal beer, definitely worth checking out.

The brewery has an apartment for holiday rentals that is spacious with all mod cons and a good location for exploring the area alongside the unique opportunity to sleep in a water tank.
The brewery itself does guided tours although please check open days in advance as not 7 days a week. The tours go through the history of the brewery and building from start through to decline and regeneration.
The beer is superb and a large variety of choice from pilsner through to Summer ales, stouts and IPA.

I can highly recommend the newly renovated brewery in Lobeč, just over an hour from Prague. Not only for lovers of beer, but also architecture buffs. We enjoyed the beer, the beautiful old brewery buildings and the tour. The text of the tour is available in English, and this really gave us a deper knowledge of the beer-brewing proces and the history of the brewery. Well-done to Pavel and his team!!

Came here on a Sunday lunchtime after a walk from Mseno. A lovely restored brewery and restuarant, really busy and great beer and food. We loved it so much we bought a t-shirt!

We came here after our hike with Gourmet Hiking Escape and were given a tour of both the old and new parts of the brewery. There is some serious history at this place! Learning about it, seeing the well-preserved architecture, and tasting their beer directly from the tanks was a memorable experience. The beer is excellent and the tap room and picnic tables outside are both gorgeous. I really liked seeing the apartment that the current owner lived in when he was bringing the brewery back to life. I don't know if this is normally open for viewing, but it's really cool to see, if you are able to. čau ahoj!

We stopped by this brewery during a day-trip with "Gourmet Hiking Escapes" and it was really interesting. We had a tour where the guide explained about the history of the old brewery and showed us how things operate today. Obviously, the tastings were great, the dark one (imperial stout?) was incredible.

Great experience and an interesting, yet not overwhelming introduction into the beer production mysteries. Nice guides, tasty beer, cool bar and awesome outside area where you can relax with your beer exposed to sun!

For beer lovers and history lovers aloke, Lobec is a gem. First established in the 1500s, the brewery (Pivovar) was in continuing production until communism took over Czechoslovakia.
Lobec Pivovar has been undergoing a restoration process and has returned to producing excellent beers in small batches. They have a beer hall and outdoor seating. A very interesting tour is offered; English translation is available.
