About
Historically a thriving fishing community, Fisherman’s Village in Bophut is now a popular walking street, with rustic shophouses converted into eateries, shops, beach bars, and hotels. Restaurants here specialize in seafood, with both local and international offerings on the menu. Things kick up a notch during the weekly night market which features stalls serving cocktails, sweets, and street food from around the world. Get yourself a classic Thai stirfry and homemade coconut ice cream for dessert. Be sure to browse the handicrafts and trinkets—soft beach kaftans and bowls carved from coconuts make great souvenirs. – Tripadvisor

I think some of the lower ratings of this area are by people who don't like to spend money and secondly expect everything to be perfect post-Covid! Fisherman's Village is clearly an area that will be very lively and prosperous once the regeneration has happened, but this will take time, and it was very encouraging to see so much building and renovation work going on during our time there...no doubt in less than a year there will be many more beautiful new bars, restaurants and shops to visit.
The beach itself is lovely sand, and very picturesque with stunning views to the islands to the north in the distance which are a short boat ride away. There are a good selection of hotels, restaurants and bars including an Irish pub of all things.
While prices may be higher than lesser known resorts, it is still very reasonable and inevitably establishments are desperate for your business right now.
We also found a great massage parlour here which was great value (it pays to search as some are very overpriced and would have cost us at least double).
Lots to do here, and will no doubt be thriving in the future once more tourists return.

Did not quite meet expectations. There is a LOT of international food on the menus. Beachside restaurants are expensive in comparison to most other restaurants, mainly due to the location. I can’t comment on the beachside dining and beach entertainment as it was ruined by the incessant rain that greeted us virtually every day of our holiday.
We went to 5 restaurants in the village, the best by far was The Hut , which is a bit isolated right down the barren eastern side. The better restaurants are not in the village, but obviously less aesthetic.
We went to 5 bars in the village, the best by far was the Karma Sutra.
Although there is a lot of foot traffic and it has a lot of bars/restaurants, don’t be expecting a big party scene. At 10 o’clock the village is virtually empty, even though the bars are well populated.
The Night Market is on the western edge of the village and occurs three times a week. Although, on one particular deluge, we went to Kawin’s Kitchen on the main road and noticed that the market wasn’t on, even though it should’ve been. We only went the once and I hated it. It was very much for the tourists. Thai food was a scarcity. We saw corn on the cob, sausages (not Chiangmai sausages), Gyros from a Greece, Enshelladas from Mexico, Doner Kebabs from Turkey, Satay from Malaysia and half a dozen pop up cocktail bars.

If you like this place, it depend what you are looking for. If you looking for some nice cafes, good fish restaurants in a more or less western style you will love this place. The nightmarket in this area is a "circus" for western tourists and has nothing to do with the atmosphere on a Thai nightmarket in the rest of the country.

This place isn't really a thing... It's not a fisherman's village in the sense of there being fishermen, markets, boats, seafood etc.

It's just a tourist trap of incredibly expensive bars and market-style stalls all selling the same tat but at different prices. We eventually found a fairly reasonable bar with average priced food and drinks with very friendly staff.

Lots of cool and vibrant experiences here, especially on days where the stalls are set up at the community mall, The Wharf, selling variety of stuff and many interesting food and drinks. Recommend The Shack for quality steaks/cuts of meat or fish.. Bar Barguette was great with both their coffee, light foods and outdoor ambiance. The same can be said with the popular hotspot bar right in front- Coco Tam's. The place becomes most alive at night and on some days, with fire show performances.

Fisherman’s village is a MUST if you are in the area especially at night when the street market is on there . The market isn’t there every evening but on a Monday, Wednesday , Friday and the weekend. There are so many stalls with the most delicious food prepared and cooked by these local people. From your typical Thai curries, barbecued octopus tentacles on a stick, meat skewers to many many more delights and its very cheap . There are lots of desserts and the cheapest and best cocktails I’ve ever had. As you walk through what is a bit mad at first as you walk along looking at everything you come to a much calmer side of the market where you can buy all sorts of things, jewellery, fake designer handbags, wooden ornaments and so on. My family and I have been many times whilst staying in Samui, the only thing I would say is that if you go to the restaurants there (and there are lots of lovely ones) you are going to pay so much more for your food. The food on offer if you venture out of this tourist area and go to the local no fuss looking ones, you are most certainly going get one of the best and cheapest Thai meals you’ve ever had.

The Fisherman’s Village has no resemblance of a past fisherman’s village apart from a concrete encased boat! In the day it is very dirty and unpleasant to walk in as dirty water is constantly thrown into walking areas by different establishments making various attempts to clean up the previous nights works.
At evening times it comes alive but not as a previous fishing village more of a market and bar/ eating establishments.
Worth a visit if in area but not in my opinion worth a special visit as bares no resemblance to a past fishing village more of a run down one way system.

Great spot to visit on Koh Samui. Open on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday for night markets, I felt the energy on a Friday night was most energetic. Definitely a must do when visiting the island with plenty to drink, eat and shop. Some great restaurants around as well if streek/market food isn't your thing. Great cocktail specials - best to get a taxi there and back to accommodation

Nothing appealed to me. I thought I was going to a fisherman village, it’s just a road, with upmarket restaurants on the beach side, and cheap outlets on the other side. Plenty of tourists taking the usual selfies. Too far from Chalong and a complete waste of an evinced, particularly given the price the restaurants were wanting. Omg an Aussie normal steak $70. Silly Europeans lap them up.

This is our second time in Koh Samui, we enjoyed it so much the first time we just had to visit again. Fisherman's village Friday Market is great, it has lots eateries and stalls but it was not very busy which does make it easy walk around but no atmosphere. Our first visit 2 years ago it was very busy. We ate the street food and sat in one of the outside bars. What I find annoying is unles you want to eat in a resturant there is no where to sit and eat. The outside bar which is right down the end near the original fishermans village entrance had seats, you just had to buy a drink and you could sit there for ages. Which is what we did. The drinks are quite cheap and expected them to be weak, well they were very strong actually so sitting listening to the band, drinking, eating and people watching was great.
