We arrive as a couple at the pier of the port of Torre Vado where the Katamarano we have chosen awaits us, after having been invited to the excursion by Cosimo, who pleasantly and kindly "recruits" us while we were on the beach sunbathing. At 3pm we set sail for the Ionian towards Santa Maria di Leuca. We were welcomed by two really nice sailors who put the whole crew at ease in a fun and joking way. The helmsman with a Popeye T-shirt stops the boat at times to be able to view the coast, the natural caves and the ruins of historical buildings while he distributes some explanations here and there, accurate albeit concise. The tour continues pleasantly until the first of the two "swim stops" in the clear and invigorating water, where there is no shortage of colorful fish to keep you company.
We arrive at the halfway point after about two hours, we have passed Santa Maria di Leuca and crossed the border between the Ionian and the Adriatic. The change in color of the water when the two seas meet is truly remarkable!
We are about to return, after about two hours of outward travel amidst waves and laughter, this time with the sun setting and the atmosphere created is truly beautiful: summer hits from the 80s-90s-00s galore, the sky taking on a new colour. of orange and red, and an aperitif with appetizers, melon, taralli, white and red wine, water and tea. It should be appreciated that fresh water and tea are made available immediately, so the atmosphere is accommodating even in the event that someone is not feeling well, the two sailors are really friendly and helpful.
Additional point for the crew we found, really nice and we all had fun dancing with a final group photo. Definitely worth doing again!! Boarding 🏴☠️
