The seaweed is so bad you cannot get in the sea. It’s not a holiday when you cannot swim! There are many beautiful places in Greece and this is not one of them. Nobody seems to care, the seaweed isn’t removed and we will not be returning. Go somewhere else and don’t waste your hard earned money in somewhere that is not fit for purpose!

Worst beach we’ve ever been to, absolutely disgusting. The smell was overwhelming and can only be described as if sewerage was being emptied into the water. The water was brown when the waves broke. We have been to many of the Greek islands including Kos but we won’t be coming back. We were actually warned not to go in by a local man.

We absolutely love Mastihari Beach. If you do go there, pop in at The Horizon Cocktail Bar, the food is great, the atmosphere is great, the staff are very friendly, and Alexander wax really lovely, right on the beach. Very clean. The scenery is lovely and was great to sit on the beach and watch the sunset. We would definitely go back there.

Pepe from Cirillo has a set of beds on the beach. Reasonable and also have the Wifi hotspot if you need it.
The sea is great for body boarding or if you enjoy kite surfing . There were some days it was very calm and this allows you to do some snorkelling.

We stayed in Mastihari for a month, mid May til mid June, and spent many relaxing hours here. The beach is of white sand and is gently shelving ,so good for little ones..At one end you have the small port and here also you find the bars and restaurants which spill over onto the beach..Plenty of sunbeds to be found ,many of which are free provided you buy drinks or snacks from the bars...We used Pepes sunbeds as we stayed at the Christina apartments. They were very comfortable and were only 6 euros for the day..A safe box and free wifi was also included,as well as wind breaks which were handy as it could be quite breezy from time to time. At this time of year the beach was uncrowded ,and it was lovely to walk the whole length and back along the shoreline..For those more serious walkers it is easy to walk miles in both directions from the port ,passing various hotels and bars as you go. This we did on a number of occasions ..There is also plenty of room to find a quiet place in the sand dunes or further along away from the sunbeds.......A great beach...Enjoy.......

it is big, sandy and windy. Great for surfing (there is a Kite Surfing School and Station operated by Austrians). And great for relaxing. Be advised that there may be nudists.

What a fantastic beach mainly sandy a few pebbles and rocks in places, from Mastihari it's a good 30 to 40 minute stroll down the beach until you come across a hotel you can walk threw it which I would advise as you will stumble upon a fantastic greek tavern as rustic and basic as can be but brilliant we only had a drink there but other people were eating and it looked amazing and as always the service was amazing. On the way back the views seemed more amazing than on the way down and with the length and size of the beach and sand dunes hiding the main land away you really could come here and almost have total solitude and relaxation away from the crowds. As you get closer to Mastihari there are array of sunbed's and parasols even hammocks for hire average cost was 5 euros each and some included a free ice cold bottle of water how's that for service and with the bar's and taverna's only a short walk away Mastihari beach is a must for anyone staying in the area

The first time we visited Mastihari, we knew that this was a little paradise, and we return twice sometimes 3 times a year. And once we have left it we can't wait to go back the beach is lovely and the village is full of friendly welcoming people home away from home

Get away from the bars and tavernas in the village and head up the slope towards the basilica to a quiet sandy beach.
Ideal for sunbathing and watching the kite surfers

We spent an afternoon on Mastihari beach and it’s a lovely clean long beach with bars lining the front. It has good bed and umbrellas available at a cost and the locals were warm and welcoming. It also offers spectacular views of neighbouring islands and the mountains of Kos

If I said I was looking for a beach that’s all sand and not rocky with clear blue waters, would you recommend this ?

Does anyone know if you can hire pedalos with slides from this beach? Thinking of going next August and my son is desperate to have a go on one

Another thought. Makis is a good seafood restaurant, quite popular with locals in the winter.

we are travelling to mastihari in july and been a few times before but never gone acoss on the ferry o kalymnos so planning on doing this when we get across what is there and is there anything in particular to look out for or do nothing to energetic please as travelling with my 78 year old dad
Written May 26, 2016
Hi Angela we went over to kalymnos last June very easy to catch the ferry there's a small booth on the corner of the harbour which displays all the times the smaller Ferryside are more expensive but do get over there quicker. We spent about 4hours over there and to be quite honest struggled to occupy our time there's bars, cafes, tavernas and plenty of touristy shops which predominantly are all on th flat and the harbour it self is quite picturesque but personally that was it we certainly enjoyed Kos town alot better, but what we will do next time when we are there is book up there island tour of kalymnos which I believe you can book up in Mastihari it self it sounds alot more interesting and worth while doing I hope this helps
