OLD STATUES DATED FROM XIII CENTURY
Feb 2017 • Family
The old statues inside of the temple are actually very old dated from XIII century when the Bairava Sect had great influence in Bali. Other statue with similar style can be found in the entrance of the Goa Gajah Elephant Cave. Big bulging eyes, fangs, visceras collar, skulls decoration, dancing on the top of dead body are some character of this sect. Interesting to see but the temple proper is all newly rebuilt without any particular architectural interest.

Entering Kebo Edan temple you cound see the giant pigure standing up the center pavillion. The story is take us back the Era of Udayana Dinasty, when the king Mayadenawa role the island of Bali with Tantrayana Niryeti practises.
