mix of sand and shingle, warm clear water clean beach, water shies needed for entry into sea, lots of fish and great for snorkeling. Plenty of water sports and a water Taxi to Lindos available for 15 euros.

Of the beaches we saw on our visit to Rhods, I would say this one is average. The water is clear and makes for great snorkeling. The stones are not nearly as sharp or annnoying as other places. It is a huge, wide beach. The main people there are from the big resorts. If you want more restaursnts or bars or nicer surroundings, choose a different beach.

The place is so dirty, it was better not to go close to the sea there. Partly demolished old buildings made it worse.

If you want a pure sandy beach, you need to go to Pefkos, Lindon or Glystra beaches. The beach opposite our hotel, the Lindos Imperial at Keotari has its own sunbeds, there is a beach cafe which is part of the hotel complex so you can get plenty of drinks and food free of charge if you are all inclusive.

The beach at kiotari sandier at the top and pebbles close to the sea.
The surrounding area can look a little shabby at times but the view can be something special, there's not a lot of rubbish on the beach but the same can't be said about the surrounding area...nice if you stay to hotel paths but stray too far and your soon disappointed in the lack of care for the environment by the Greek authority... Rubbish in all the bushes and abandoned cars.

The water in September is warm and pleasing. Maybe a little stoney at the waters edge but with the correct footwear a joy when swimming.
The usual boat tours to Lindos for a few euros.
Well worth engaging for a trip on the Santa Maria for a coastal tour.

Stayed near small hamlet of Kiotari (not by the monster hotels) & thoroughly enjoyed beach, clean, not crowded and safe. Yes it's shingle and beach shoes are advisable but once in the water it is stunning. You can see the bottom even when you are 10 to 20 meters out.

Dirt/gravel/stony beach/large rocks in water. Beach shoes essential. Lots of water sports available.
