We had a good 2-3 hour walk from the bus stop down to the light house. We took the detour up on the top, windy but the view was worth it. It felt like walking on the moon. Black rocks in weird chapes. I recommend to take a bath on the black sand baech down at the light house. You'll work up a sweat walking down the vulcano.

Not for the faint hearted. Wonderful place to stay. Very friendly and a great variety of different cuisine.

Thoroughly enjoyed our volcano trip, interesting display and information in the visitors centre before a little hike along the volcano ridge itself. Definitely glad I had a jacket as it got quite windy up there and the walk can be a little slippery underfoot so trainers at least are a sensible choice. Views from the top are spectacular and worth the walk, not sure the Spanish are so worried about health and safety as I doubt the single rope along the pathway would hold you back if you took a tumble.

We came there with my mother, gotta say, it can be pretty challenging, but the view is worth it! Definitely recommend, it's a wonderful visit for an hour or two!

I wanted to visit the most recently active volcano on La Palma. This is a completely new landscape created during the eruption of 1971. You need stout walking shoes and be fairly fit to tackle this visit which involves a steep downhill walk along a rough path, a tricky scramble onto the volcano itself, and then a stiff climb back up to the village of Los Canarios (Fuencaliente). Not for the faint hearted.
