The best thing of Cres Island is the hidden beaches. Mali Bok beach is one of them. Although it is quite challenging to reach the beach, but it is really worth the effort. The beach is located below the cliff near Orlec village and the car parking is above the cliff. It is free. From the village, we still head to the beach, the road was quite small.

To go to the beach was easy but to go back to the car was super tiring. The walk-path was super steep and long, at least we walked for 20 minutes to the car. Make sure to wear shoes if you go there. Bring water and food.

The beach itself was amazing. The water color was crystal blue. Although the water was cold when we were there (the end of August) but we still swam. There was no shade, so beware with the sunburnt. We spent on the beach in the afternoon so it was not that hot. We enjoyed our time there.

My husband and I went to Croatia for our honeymoon and this was our absolute favorite beach in Croatia. We traveled to Rovinj, Premantura, Cres Island, Zadar, Split, Brac Island, Hvar Island, Korcula Island, Ston, and Dubrovnik. If you're a beach lover, please PLEASE put this in your itinerary! It is an absolute breath taker!

Tip #1 - In June, we came around 4:00PM on a weekday and there were only six people there, including us. This was a perfect time to go because the sun was on the other side of the mountain which provided some shade on the beach. Also, this beach has the prettiest pebbles so snag one if you like to collect rocks!

Tip #2 - Bring water and snacks. The hike down was easy but the hike up was challenging!

You can only reach it by walk: around 500m walking from the parking place. When we visited it was very crowded. The water was nice but as there are rocks all around there is really little space for sun taking. The altitude difference is around 130m in 500m walk fro the beach back to parking place.

From the town of Orlec you have approximately a 10 minute drive to a big parking lot in front of a ramp (which is opened only during winter). The road is good up to the parking lot. After the ramp the road is asphalted but uneven, damaged and has cracks. So I would not recommend going all the way with the car.
I expected a lot from this beach but I was a bit disappointed. Yes, the seashore is breathtaking, the round stones are marvelous, etc. but the beach had a lot of garbage, the waves were huuuuge which made it practically impossible to enter in the water and the wildness is a bit devastated (graphitti, old boats, etc.).
I think it would have been better if we went on a less windy and more calm day.

We visited this "beach" in July 2017, on a very hot sunny day between 10 am and 1 pm. It's probably the worst timing of the year/day. It was crowded and super hot.

Positive points: the water is beautiful and you can take some great pictures, when walking down the pedestrian path. Good clean waters for a swim. Parking was easy.

Negative points: the so-called beach is just a VERY small area covered with stones, suitable for max 20 people and with absolutely no shadow (at least until 4 pm,).
Not good for a stay longer than 1 hour...

If you really want to go, bring parasol and water.

It's an amazing gem in Cres island,
We find it accidentally, when drive around in Cres Island. Just go to a little village, Orlec... hmm nothing interesting. Try tu U turn, but thin road... ok, there is a littlebit bigger place front of the cemetery... what is this road on the side ?....
And then we find the nicest small secret beach of this island.
From parking 570 meter walk to the beach, but from the mountain to the beach !!!
Around 100 meter down.
Bring water and food there, and don't forget anything in the car, because walking up is a hiking adventure. Wear good shoe.
But the view worth everything.
Crystal clear turquoise water, giant rocks.
Before 4 pm full sunny the beach, but after full shadow.
Come before 16:00 !

The parking can be found easily just by following the signs in Orlec. A very steep pedestrian walkway leads down to the small beach. Due to its situation towards East, it is best to visit in the morning hours. However, there is literally no shade down there. When we were there, there were some big waves and it was alot of fun to take a dip.

Place seems to be ideal for a lonely beach to be alone on the rocky place and to swim in the clean sea. It can happen early in the season and late in September. Second part of the place is, that you need do walk a lot down to the beach from parking and even, to walk up from there and you will find no shadow on the way and on the beach. You must carry your own drink, your umbrella and anything you need. A shower? Utopia. Last and not least important: users and other people don’t care enough for cleaning the beach.

If you go to Cres island definitely go there. Not to far, and really beautiful. You have to climb down 10 minutes. The beach was a little bit crowded, but still nice. The water was cold, but u can use to it. I really enjoyed the time here.
