I highly recommend Yvon as a fishing guide. He has a wonderful approach that is both informative and enthusiastic, teaching you to how to watch for the fish and then how to land them. He had a very detailed knowledge of the Spanish river we fished on - the Irati - and was kind in arranging all the difficult permit paperwork for us, well in advance of our trip. A great and memorable time!

I recently travelled from USA to visit the Basque Country in the Pyrenees, France. The village of Urepel was the birthplace of my Grandparents and I grew up hearing stories of them catching many fish “by hand” in the streams nearby. One of my goals for the trip was to hire someone to help me catch a fish (legally of course) in my ancestral waters. Not knowing what to do or where to start, I found Yvon on the Internet & trusted him to take care of everything & supply what was needed. Yvon delivered beyond my expectations. Not only was the fishing successful, Yvon made it happen while introducing me to the Tenkara method which made it even more enjoyable. Yvon was not only extremely professional, knowledgeable & a great instructor, his company & personality were a delightful pleasure.

An expert fly fisherman who is clearly passionate about his sport, Yvon is an accomplished guide and really great company on a fly fishing expedition.

Yvon's patient instruction, deep knowledge of the Basque rivers and their wonderful wild trout, coupled with his excellent sense humour meant that my rudimentary fly fishing skills improved markedly throughout the three sessions we had on the river and most importantly, we had enormous fun at the same time.

I have no hesitation in strongly recommending Yvon to fly fishermen of all standards wishing to fish the beautiful rivers of the Basque country in the pyrenees and the spooky trout that inhabit them.

Yvon introduced my dad and me into the world of Flyfishing. On the riverbanks of La Nive Yvon taught us the essential theory and casting methods. Later this evening we were able to catch our first trout. A great experience.

I can highly recommend Yvon to everyone who is new to this sport or needs some guidance in pyrenees mountains. He provided us with all the essential gear as well as the provisions for the day. Everything is included, from waders to different fishing rods (conventional flyfishing rods or tenkara rods)

Looking forward to our next Flyfishing adventure with Yvon.

My step-son is a super-keen (originally self-taught) accomplished fly-fisherman with experience in France, Ireland, and the Rocky Mountains. I tagged along with my camera, mostly alone while the two hunters worked out strategies, techniques and solutions. It was a treat to watch. Yvon was by his side for the full nine hours as we went from one beautiful spot to another. He exudes excitement at every step, continually passing on commentaries and suggestions, pointing out exact site where “la Vielle maman” and other fishy friends live and challenge the fisherman (all the rivers are “no-kill”). As befits a true fisherman, he is a true naturalist, pointing out rare ferns, different species of Ephemeroptera (Mayflies), Trichoptera, Plecoptera… He pointed to a white patch high on a cliff-side: guano below a vulture’s nest with the chick, even uglier than its parent, perched above. Bruno managed 12 trout, not bad for a totally natural stream. As a naturalist myself, I thoroughly recommend a day or two with Yvon. And as a future fly-fisherman…
