Ports, restaurants and staff only interested in big boats with clearly plenty of money! Very sad attitudes!! We sail an ordinary 34 footer and have quite a few years on the lake. Love sailing and charming nice night ports, but have now tried two ports on Lastovo with the same experience and we are not going back. There are so many other islands with bays with nice little restaurants so we will try them next year.

We stayed for a week, and I could stay even longer. It is very specific, relaxed and cool island. I you'll stay one week you have time to relax and see everything!
You have to:
- take a walk in the old town of Lastovo between old stone houses (you can even find capers growing there on the streets)
- go to breathtaking viewpoint Hum (or Hom)
- spend a day swimming, diving and sunbathing on the rocks at the end of Skrivena luka
- see the lighthouse Struga (great view, but be careful because of the the cliffs!)
- eat pizza on a great-view romantic terrace in Amfora in Lastovo or in Brain in Zaklopatica
- eat risotto in Bačvara in Latovo on their terrace (which is posted in the little stone street - very cute!)
- drink coffe or even better vine (Rukatac) in Fumari in their very cool terrace!! Food is also good there.
- go to day trip to beach Saplun - necessarily! Ask about it in agency or INFO-biro in Lastovo
- Eat octopus "ispod peke" in a Podanje family farm
- Eat anything in "Tako to mora biti" homemade food place (I don't know how to call it:), it is not a restaurant... local villager will cook for you what he has fresh.. ask him on the telephone before you come..)
- Drink coctail in Portorosso in Skrivena luka
- take a walk in Lučica (little fisherman village which is part od Lastovo town)
- and FINALLY take a look at the stars ANYWHERE! The most beautiful starry night in Europe because of its remoteness and lack of pollution!
In general, it is very small and peaceful island, but I was never bored! I would advise you to come with the car! If you have car everything is 10-15 minutes away! Our friends were in a camp and were very satisfied.. We also had some fresh fish in a camp restaurant (you have to make a reservation).. it was very good..

We took a lastovo taxi service with vans (only one on island).
It was arranged to have a tour of sight seeing.
They took us to one panorama view and than to lastovo town.
After that they where late in picking us up and had only one van so the guy had to do two runs.
When we complained he started beeing very unconfortable and geting in our face and changing price higher not lower.
I recomend you rent your own cars and do much better tour without using transfer from any taxi service.

We stayed at Struga Lighthouse which is about 30 mins by taxi from Ubili port and accessible by Catamaran from Split (3 hours). The lighthouse is at the furthest point of the island up a steep hill and there are 4/5 self catering apartments available. The apartments are very basic and rustic but have all the necessaries. Good if you want something a bit different, off the beaten track, remote, peaceful and you are happy to explore the island where you can have coves and beaches all to yourself!

The lighthouse keeper will catch you fresh fish and can get supplies from Lastovo town which is about 20mins away by car or 2 hour walk. ( we did an early morning walk to it as it's so hot and got a taxi back - need to book this though) Take as many supplies as possible from the mainland before you go as it's a long walk if you run out!! Waters are beautiful but you need rock shoes to swim/snorkel.

Great restaurant called Porat 1 is about 20 mins walk from the lighthouse which does excellent seafood accompanied by excellent service and gave us a much needed cold beer! but remember and ask the lighthouse keeper for a torch as there are no lights anywhere!

You can take a car ferry to the island which makes getting around easier but wouldn't recommend taking a hire car to the lighthouse as it's up a very steep and windy gravel road and could cause seerious damage to a car. A moped may be better.

Absolutely amazing location. We anchored in the ex navy bay near passudur. Loads of exploring to be done in deserted tunnels and submarine shelters. Feels like the end of the world in a good way.

Word of warning: beware of the police here, we had our whole boat turned over by two unpolite gentlemen whom suspected we had a control substance on board, fortunately we didn't and they left visibly disappointed. The whole episode seemed suspicious and retrospectively corrupt. It should be noted these chaps harassed the elderly Swiss couple in front of us as well.

Definitely 180 degrees from Split & Dubrovnik. There are tourists but minimal during peak season. The Benedictine Monk's castle, now owned and being restored by the Dubrovnik Archdiocese, is so majestic as you pull up on the little ferry boat. Not much to see on the island but a nice quiet walk around the perimeter is worth it. There are two little places for food and drink. You will basically stay there for 30 min between ferry rides and then head back.
There are trails around the two salt water lakes and you can swim in them. Have appropriate water shoes for the typical rocky beach. You can rent bikes to ride around or walk.Make sure you bring sunscreen, a hat, and water. There are a few vendors selling drinks but that is by the Ferry dock only and the Monk's island.

Anchored in a lovely quiet cove here. Only a few boats, not crowded at all. Great afternoon of swimming and snorkeling and relaxing. Away from the crowds. You can dock and walk in to Old Town, but it is a 20 minute walk into town. Did not see any taxis, bc this is a very small quiet island. Had dinner at Konoba Augusta Insula on other side of the island.

We traveled to Lastovo Island several times and we always were satisfied with our decision. Quiet island, not crowded with tourists yet, untouched nature, mild climate... We prefere Prežba, Ubli and Pasadur, Skrivena Luka is less green.

We visited Lastovo in august, in high season, but nevertheless the island wasn't crowded with tourists. We could find beautiful beaches all for ourselves. You can make one day trip to Lastovnjaci, a group of small islands near Lastovo. The city of Lastovo is special, you can feel time slows down as you walk it's winding narow streets.
