not open to tourist
May 2019
Was there last May of 2019 and was told the Distillery is not open to tourist. But i did enjoy visiting the little town of Coquinvillier and had a nice lunch at the only restaurant there.

Deliciously informative

An extremely good value for money tour, conducted bilingual in around an hour, with tastings at the end from a choice of three price points. Informative, not at all stuffy, and you get to taste - and buy if you wish, but without pressure.

OH so tasty!

I had discovered the spirit Calvados as made by Boulard in a restaurant in Seattle at the recommendation of their "spirit sommelier" who described it as his favorite. On ordering it, I definitely agreed and when we put together a trip to Normandy I made plans to stop there! The staff was quite helpful with identifying the style I had drunk before so they knew what my likes and dislikes were. We didn't go on the tour as we didn't have much time and were more interested in sampling their Calvados! Ended up buying and bringing home their XO Calvados and Cream Calvados (think Bailey's Irish cream!). Was really a neat stop for us!

This Place Will Change Your Mind About Calvados Completely
Sep 2016 • Business
This place makes you realise that the best calvados can hold its head up with the very best cognacs and whiskies.

The process is fascinating, the organisation of the visit and the information is impeccable. At the tasting in the special tasting room, they were incredibly generous, we tried some stunning calvados - sadly, the more expensive they were, the better they tasted!

Really, really interesting.

A quick tasting
Sep 2016 • Couples
We have toured Calvados distilleries before so we didn't have much interest in going on the tour but on a dull afternoon we thought we would check out the shop and maybe get a taste. We had bought Boulard Calvados before so we knew it was good quality but how would it compare with what we had already bought from a distillery nearby? We were surprised that without paying to go n the tour we were offered a taste of several different Calvados including some very old and expensive ones. We were very pleased to find we still enjoyed it very much and it was well worth buying a couple of bottles. The staff were friendly and spoke good English which made the experience easier and I will look forward to visiting again

An Aromatic Fest
Jan 2016
We were going to be passing through the Lisieux area of France in January and wanted to explore the surroundings. The wife and I both enjoy Calvados, so I found this distillery offered tours during the summer months. I send an email and they responded by offering us a private tour at an appropriate date/time. We parked our car in the large, well marked parking area and were met by our tour guide, who spoke perfect English. Although I do not recall her name, she explained the steps in distilling Calvados. Walking into the first room of a large warehouse, (where the apples are cooked), you are overwhelmed by the fantastic aroma of apples - its like you fell into a vat of apple sauce. The whole tour takes about 40 minutes, and consists of two main areas - the distilling area and the aging warehouse. En-route there are just a few steps up and down to navigate. Naturally, at the end of the tour we were taken to a tasting room, where we had a few sips of various aged Calvados. There was one bottle that was offered for 2800 euros, and another display featuring an actual Eisenhower jacket which was given by the former General's family. All things considered, this is a good tour, knowledgeable tour guide and a darn good product. If you have the time and the inkling, I suggest making a visit.

Calvados Distillery ....

We dropped in because we know the Boulard Calvados name and it wasn't very far off of our intended path, and found the location by GPS and signage. Really a top notch distillery with stills, cooperage barrels and bottles of Calvados readily available for tasting. We were able to sample a number, including some special vintages and productions. Tour in flawless English and thoroughly enjoyable. Normandy is Calvados country, so don't miss it! Enjoy. ...

So enjoyable!

We chose this distillery based on previous reviews that suggested there might be tours available in English, and the fact that they are open Sundays. It was a bit confusing to get there as our GPS couldn't zero in the exact location, but we managed to arrive just in time for a tour. We were the only folks there so could choose our language and the guide's English was very good. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour, found it very interesting and informative. And definitely got our money's worth with the tasting - for 6 euro you can taste 4 drinks, for 10 euro you get two extra (including the very high end bottles) (and they will let you share), and for just a few more euro you get all the tastings plus a lesson in mixing Calvados cocktails. They even gave us a complimentary Calvados cream liquor taste at the end. Highly recommend this place.
