This 2 hour tour costs 370RAN per adult, it’s on the pricy side. However, it’s a quick way to learn about South African tribal culture.
First was a half video screening that was a bit dated, followed by an one hour walking tour around the site which was well presented and narrated with humour. They also demonstrated traditional weaving and cooking skills. There was a half hour dance show finale which was entertaining.
Apparel Tip - wear comfortable shoes, the site walkway are mostly unpaved.
Dining Tip - across the road there is a Lion Safari, no admission is required for those just who want to dine at their cafe. We had nice lunch at reasonable prices there next to a giraffe and emu

It was ok. We were welcomed by a group of village dancers,. And then a local lady introduced us what we will expect. So we went through a few hunts, only went into one of them. Nothing inside, just chairs for us to sit down. She talked about what men and women have different roles. I feel like there was more talking than actions or practical things that they do. Then they ended up with the dancing at the end. The dance were good, I was little disappointed that they didn’t invite the tourists to join them because the reviews said they did. The tour guide told me maybe because there were too many of us.

We had our second visit to the centre and we enjoyed it a lot again. The tribe villages are interesting and the guides are always really really good, they really earn their tips! The dance show is just something amazing!
We had also lunch in Lesedi and it is so tasty and wide variety! If you go, you just have to try the lunch also. Especially crocodile is delicious!
Souvenirs they are selling, especially jewellery, are very cheap and beautiful.

We stay one night in lesedi village, and enjoyed the outstanding tour and tribal dancing. Amazing tour leader and friendly staff from reception to the resturant. The room are so neat and they provide all the facility that you need. The food quality and how they arrange all the tables for guests with a little note that your name is written on it, is really made this experience special for us. You can spend your evening around a pit fire and enjoy talking to other visitors of this village. The market is full of lovely souvenir and without any doubt the prices are way cheaper than markets in the city.

We, family of 4 adults, have booked the Lesedi Cultural Village tour some months in advance. It was mid-day tour with lunch. We arrived by our car. The parking area is ok, we managed even to find a place very close to the entrance. The tour started on time. The first part in which we played the drums was too long and therefore became boring. Fortunately later the tour across all parts of the village started and it was the best part of the tour. All people who booked this tour were divided into two groups, good size (as I remember about 15-20 people each). The lady who was our guide was fantastic. Good communication and as our daughter is walking slowly because of disability, the guide was all the time taking care of her, didn’t start explanation before we arrived to the next stage of the tour, also taking care about the good seat for our daughter at each stage. There was also nice dancing show. Finally the buffet lunch and then another problem appeared. Beyond tour participants there were many other people, so there were big queues to the lunch. We didn’t foresee it as there was nothing in the in the information about the tour, it was something unusual. We couldn’t stay long time (I think abut as least 40 minutes) to get the meal as we had to return our car to avoid the additional day payment. So it was the poor part of the tour which has to be improved. We left without any meal.

I enjoyed the cultural experience and the knowledge of Mpho. I'm sure he has much more to tell than time allows . There is no real time for questions or going deeper into detail. ...and I had to translate as well.
The cultural show was great.
I booked via 2 different ways.
The check in was weird as at first I was supposed to pay for one room. Which I prepaid and forwarded the proof of payment to central reservation. Why was it not forwarded to the property?
On arrival at 4pm they had a problem with the allocation of the 2 rooms. All of a sudden were searching for Ndebele 4 and handed out Zulu 4.
No generell information was given about the times for dinner, breakfast e.g.
The rooms were fine, except for a broken door handle.
I found the bar prices to expensive, 55 ZAR for a can of Liqui Fruit Orange.

This was a wonderful way to spend a few hours in South Africa! I was only in Joburg for 2 full days, and LESEDI was recommended to me by several people. I was treated by a group of beautiful people who sang to me, wandered around the shops full of wonderful handmade goods, got a drum lesson and a tour around the different tribal villages. The star of the tour is absolutely the dance performances which are incredible. There is explanation as to what the dances mean, which tribe they originated in and it was a pleasure to watch. The entire experience was delightful! I highly recommend!

Lesidi seems a bit outdated. We came on a weekday so it was incredibly calm and there were no activities. Perhaps is it more fun on a busy day! We did buy some fun souvenirs. The people working there are very enthousiast! It is a nice quick stop on the way to Hartebeestpoort or some other cute town around there.

I'll be on a weekend away at this very same place later in the month of November and I Just wanted to know what the price of the buffet is and if there were fridges in the rooms.
Written October 28, 2019
Sorry I did not see your question. You have probably already gone there. There was not a fridge in our room. The buffet was included in our package, so I am not sure what it costs

Est-ce que la visite du village peut se faire aisément sans guide?
Si non , y a-t-il des guides sur places moyennant un supplément? Ou autrement, est-I’ll absolument nécessaire de la visite en organisé?
Written August 5, 2018
I have two quick questions.
First, on hotels com it says that the hotel rooms have a shared bathroom. Is that really the case or are they private per room?
My second question is about the show. Does anyone have any information on it or how to book it?
Written May 22, 2018
We did not stay at the hotel. We had arranged for a guide who drove us there and we purchased the tickets once there. The festivities started around 11:30 or 12:00. While waiting for the events to start we shopped at the vendors that are situated on the grounds. At the start of the tour we first went into an auditorium where they showed a short film and then the village guide talked some about the village. The guide was great, very engaging. He then took us on a tour of the various African villages that were set up. At each village, the guide talked about the customs of the tribe, etc. Following this tour we went into another auditorium where we saw singing and dancing which was great - the performers were excellent. After which we went to the dining hall where we feasted on excellent African cuisine. We were probably there 4 hours and truly enjoyed - would highly recommend.
