“Always worth visiting, no matter which season”

This is one of tje places we take a lot of friends that are visiting us and it never disappoints. Doesn't matter which season, it's always beautiful to walk around and enjoy the great views. I would recommend to come during the forenoon though since it gets more and more crowded throughout the day.

“a beautiful lake in the nature, isolated from tourism”

crystal-clear water, in which the surrounding mountains are reflected. Very few people. Fantastic and picturesque! The water is cool, even in summer on warm days. It is a mountain lake. Easy to get to by car. There are parking spaces right by the lake. There is the possibility to hike, picnic and there are green meadows to lie down. Goes well with a visit to the Cumberland wildlife park. The lake is 7 km away. Watch and enjoy, it's worth it!

I love to visit this everytime..

I love to visit Almsee from Spring to Autumn..The whole area is very clean.Try to taste the cold water in the areas.Water is safe to drink and direct from spring.
If you like to relax and see the wonder of Nature.Try to visit in Grünau Almtal Upper Austria.
You don't have to pay any cents for this attraction.

The perfect place for a getaway into solitude and nature

This mountain lake is by far among the most beautiful in Austria. Walk around it and enjoy the landscape, nature, the beautiful crystal clear water of the lake, the springs that flow into it, the ducks. Sit on one of the benches alongside this lake and listen to nature! The sunsets are most beautiful as the mountains take on a pink and yellow hue!

Fantastic

This is just a good 35 mins drive from Gmunden and the lake is breathtaking. Fresh air, nice walks, what more can you ask for? There is also a big restaurant which we did not try, but the menu looked promising.

Breathtaking Scenery

This lake is fed by glaciers, so it's cold, even in mid-summer. Still, it's a wonderful place for a dip, or a walk or jog around the lake. Trails branch off the easy route around the lake for excursions into the mountains.

The parking lot is quite large and next to a restaurant. Access to the trail is easy. But even if you're unable to walk the trail a trip to the parking lot is worthwhile as the scenery from it and that area is simply breathtaking.

Clear blue waters

Good idea to hire a push bike and ride around this lake. If the weather is good, try go for a dip in the clear blue waters. Majestic mountains surround you.

Nature to the max

This beautiful lake is at the end of the valley and in front of some good looking, high mountains. Specially in summer a lot of tourists enjoy the lake. A bit off season during weekdays or when the sun hides behind the clouds the locals come too, to see that it was a great idea to move her. That's what we do^^

Another beautiful lake walk!

Another beautiful lake walk. We stopped for coffee and cake (as always) in a lakeside cafe before reaching the halfway point. As it was a blue sky day, we had fantastic views and reflections of the glacier and high mountains.

Great place for a walk

Nov 2019

I stopped on a Sunday afternoon to do a little birdwatching. It was not the right time of year for most species but did see a few, especially at the feeders by the main building. There is a nice flat walking path that goes all the way around the lake. There are some food vendors by the parking lot.

Stunning lake and views

Beautiful lake worth visiting!!
Spent the whole day there just relaxing and enjoying the scenery.
Hire a bike and ride from Grünau or get the bus there and back.
