Don't be put off by the 198 stairs at the entrance - its a wonderful peaceful walk along the wall to the river and old town, as good as the Great Wall but not crowded. If you are a foreigner you will likely be the only one there that day and may get lots of photo requests.

The wall used to surround the whole city, both to defense against the pirates from the sea and also the flood. The city is really an amazing place. The wall, although not as long and grand as the Great Wall, it is also very impressive. Building along the river and also the mountain ridges, even today, it will definitely take... More

This is one of those not-known ancient projects from the Chinese history. Once you walk you will have the feeling and fibrant what the meaning was of such a structure. Beautifull conserved.

Mention 'The Great Wall' and most people will think about the famous structure near Beijing. However, there is another Great Wall, often known as the 'Jiangnan Great Wall', which is located on a ridge near the town of Linhai in Zhejiang province. Intriguingly, this one can claim to be the original as the hollow block towers on the wall here... More

Seeing the wall and the city is amazing, no need to go to see the official great wall of China, this is just as good! Lovely old narrow street where you can observe the locals selling local products and trinkets - what an adventure. Don't forget to keep right and stay out of the way of all the bikes!

Nice maintained and good for small exercise at the beginning. It's a rainy day when I visited and no many people there. Convenient connection to ancient street of Ziyang, seedweed cake is recommended.

Smaller version of the Great Wall in Beijing... and the whole distance takes about 2-3 hours' walk and climb. Wonderful small old city enclosed inside the wall.

A good experience. This is a large and walkable city wall from an older period of China. I was mentally comparing it to the walls of York, the UK, and it beats it: bigger, better maintained, more complete.

I am currently living locally and visited the Great Wall on a visit to Linhai. It is a well preserved and you can walk for 5-6km and take in the views. Would recommend to anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of Chinese cities for a short while. It was so refreshing not to hear the... More
