We went on a Girls’ Getaway and had read about Rio Lagartos adventures on Trip Advisor. Now I am motivated to write my own review: our day was amazing! Carlos Can was an excellent guide! He not only spoke English well, but was knowledgeable about...More
We live in Merida but in 20 years had never visited Rio Lagartos. We now question our own sanity because our visit there last week was sensational. The Ria Maya Restaurant offers great Seaford dishes prepared in various ways.

Starting with Diego Nunez III: Dealing with Diego by phone to organize a two-couple boat tour of the Rio Lagartos Flamingo breeding grounds area was a real treat. everything promised was delivered on time and with a great big Mexican smile. All of the arrangements...More
This was one of ihr Highlights on our Yucatan backpack tour.

Marvelous landscapes and beautiful wildlife! Ask for Angel Tabasco if you speak French, this guide is great and has a sense to discover birds wherever they are. Very attentive and enables an awesome experience.
We spent the whole morning with Carlos. Visiting the mangroves, bird watching and breathing the nature. It was great time. Carlos is very well prepared, he has great knowledge of birds and he is easy to spend time with. It was a great family adventure.
Diego's daughter Andrea was our official guide for a jam-packed 3 hours of birds, crocs, mangrove lore, slow & fast boating and a sandy walk to spy flamingos, clay-coated fun and a refreshing crystal-clear dip to finish. Andrea has great eyes and deftly called in...More
We waited an hour for our tour guide to appear and just as we decided to leave he showed up. No apology no nothing. These guys are arrogant and not service oriented at all. Don’t keep them in business. Creeps. Plus they charge an arm...More

We had a great tour of the mangrove forest and got to see a lot of birds and crocodiles on our 3 hour tour! One thing that struck me about this company versus others was its respect for the wildlife. Our guide would casually steer...More

I would recommend staying in Rio Lagartos. There is a number of quality hotels and it is a very peacefull place, totally different from busy Cancun. Also it is very difficult/impossible to go to Rio Lagartos without overnight stay there as the best trips start early in the morning.
25 30 dollars per person get there early in the morning. Tours all day guys on sidewalk soliciting. Great experience. Lot of alligators. Nice birds and of course the pink water lagoon with thousands of flamingos
