Do something about it

Oh my god! These ugly birds are killing 100 years old forest. You must do something about it. The smells is awful.. Worth to see how to much is bad for a nature..

Quite an experience. The scenery is really something different and the watching of the birds is somehow addictive.

Very close to Juodkrante, but a bit hard to find. If you bike to Nida, you will find it in the end of Joudkrante, on the right side. Absolutely great show! Thousands of birds in their nests. Perfect for all nature lovers!

Whatever you may think of Comorants, this place is worth a visit since it is rather a rare sight for most people. The Comorant population has increased greatly since I first visited ten years ago, and now counts many thousands. The place can be a bit hard to find, but look for the first exit on your left when leaving... More

I recommend to visit this place and to see this big colony of cormorants. Sound and view there are unbelievable. The forest there is dead and you will not see such view anywhere else in Lithuania.

Useless to argue "is it worth seeing?". It is a colony of herons and cormorans. They nest here, and since their excrements are acidic, nothing grows below their nests. Simple as that. It is on the main road, so - you can spend 10 mins and then drive further to Nida. Funniest part about all this - reaction of people.... More

For anybody interested in birds this is one of the most amazing sites - cormorants living in trees. These are not a small number. This is a very well established colony. Actually it has been increasing in size so fast that they have been trying to keep it down. If you thought you knew all about the behavior of cormorants... More

If you are travelling to Nida..you must visit this place...there is a family of coromants ..the coromants live on the trees and because of their dropping the trees are dying..it is an interesting question whether the coromants should be saved or the precious forest..Anyways it makes for a beautiful viewing.. there are a flight of steps that have to be... A 10 minute stop to hike up to the platform which overlooks the acres of stripped old forest is a good lesson in what happens in nature when there is an over population of a species. In this case the excessive number of cormorants and their feces is/has killed this forest. This is not a pretty site, but a good... More

I visit Juodkrantė quite often and seen a lot of the bird colony. I must say, I cannot admire it at all it is grotesque with all that dead forest, bad smell and noise (especially in spring). Cormorants are rapidly increasing of late, more and more forest is damaged. And, having in mind that this is almost the only patch... More
