I first became aware of this property when hiking nearby, so I stopped by the next day. This year when I visited, I tasted many of their wines, but more importantly, I was able to talk to a knowledgable staff member and the woman in charge, Katharina Tinnacher (both of whom were fluent in English). The wine was very impressive, and I will be taking a bottle to Chicago for Thanksgiving. I also enjoyed discussing wine philosophy, and was reminded how much hard work and dedication is required to allow each vineyard to fully express itself in the final product. Beautiful setting in southern Styria, close to the border between Austria and Slovenia. The vineyard is set high up on the hillside surrounded by a patchwork of vineyards. Rightly famous for their Sauvignon Blanc wines, the wines from other varieties should not be ignored (Gelber Muskatter was excellent and the Riesling very enjoyable).
