One of the best waterfalls I have ever seen. The drive is not easy to get from the main road to the falls but once you get there it is worth the drive. The perfect place to bring some music, food and drinks to just hang for the entire day.

Awful roads to get there but when you do, you'll know it was worth the bumps and jerks. Not a large place nor with much to do but it's the place you go when you want some relaxation. The water falls so heavily i could hardly keep my eyes open without using goggles. the swim area is shallow. Most of it is around 3 feet deep. Directly Under the falls could be around 5 or 6 feet at most.
The residents set up shop in the afternoon for those who want jerked chicken, soup and coconut jelly. Otherwise, walk with your own food.
I dont recall seeing restrooms or changing areas so plan accordingly.
No entry fees but you pay to park.

The best places on earth are not easily accessible by everyone! On my recent trip to Jamaica, I decided to visit somewhere I never been before. I kept hearing about "Reggae Falls", so I decided to go see what the hype is all about.
The Trip there - This was one bumpy ride. The roads definitely need some improvement. Winding roads, potholes everywhere, valleys, you name it, but if you go in late may, to late June, you won't mind. MANGOES EVERYWHERE! I've never seen a place with more mangoes just falling to the ground on the side of the road! Like seriously, and they're absolutely amazing. You can choose to even pick one from low hanging trees, stone a fresh one from the tree, or just find a good solid one to enjoy.
Now back on the trip, this is one place I'd say it's best you get a guide. There's a guy that will be standing out the front most of the time. He's dark skin, fit and will guide you to the falls for the road ends and you'll have to drive on sand. One thing not to forget, it's best you go by a van or truck. A car will be too low to cross the water. yes I did say cross the water.
Make sure you talk to the guy and negotiate with him before you let him lead you anywhere! He will try to charge you per person or $1000 jamaican dollars plus (about 10 USD). Offer upfront so you don't get surprised with a big fee.
Once there, he can tell you where to park and where to walk. At this time I'll also remind you to bring water shoes. Most people who visit here are not used to walking barefoot outside, so your feet will be super tender trying to walk on river rocks. Sneakers are no good either, please get water shoes or rubber slippers.
The rest is history! - The falls are coming from way up! So be careful if you decide to get directly under the falls. IT WILL BEAT YOU GOOD! The water is cold, not chilly, COLD! So it's best to just jump in rather than try to slowly crawl in.
Other than that, it's amazing! Remember to bring food and snacks because for some reason I was super hungry half way in the trip!
Loved every minute of it and truly enjoyed myself! I'll definitely go back next time I visit if I have the time!

If you're in need of some me-time or a place to relax, then this is the place for you. I'm more of a fresh water fan so I always enjoy the river over the sea.
A small warning, there's some climbing and trekking involved to get to the actual location, but it's ALL WORTH IT! You'll never want to leave. Be sure to pack snacks and don't forget your sunscreen!

we had to take a 4x4 to drive through the river to get to the the waterfall - but also understand there is another route where you do not have to have a 4x4 as I did see regular cars near the falls. easy access to it, the view however is compromised a bit by the large water pipes that used to take water down to nearby villages but since it no longer works not sure why they have not moved it out of the way. If the pipes are removed, this would be spectacular. the fall appears to be man made as water comes over a cement/water dam instead of the old fall which was natural. great place for a swim on the river and fun to get under the falls to feel the force of the water (very powerful) but worth the fun. locals actually jump off the cliffs and nearby old water station to the river below (do not recommend it). there is no cost to access the falls althought the signs do say fee area but no one was there to collect fees or did not see a stand for fees.

So we wanted to take our friends and a newly wed couple to the River the day after they got married. In our head we wanted to take them not too far Kingston so we head to St. Thomas. We googled 3 options and we decided to try Reggae Falls.
This turned out to be a great decision. It was our first time and it was a wonderful experience. The actual falls area is beautiful with the main attraction the heavy water gushing from high above onto your back.
It seems to be yet another of the hidden treasures of Jamaica.
Only issue was a man who was at the venue dressed in a logoed shirt with ID collecting $200 per person saying its in aid of the upkeep of the property and restrooms. I never saw a restroom nor did i see any sign of what needs to be upkeep. The Police from the area also said his charge is illegal and we should not have paid.
But it's definately a must see and do when you can!

Reggae falls is very nice. The view and water is amazing but the journey to get there was tiring and the roads are not the best.

Love this place!
We were taken by a cousins friend you is local to area.
After a drive which was pretty crazy to say the least. We were then shown this beautiful location, which the locals obviously love.
It is an amazing place, the falls and river are exhilarating and you are blown away by there power.
We also climbed up the track that takes you to the top of the falls (not for the faint hearted). When there, it's a real on top of the world moment and you feel good with your achievements.
This is a top place to visit and away from the tourist traps. Just good old dangerous fun!

I went to Reggae Falls with my family, it was a real trek to get to the falls, lots of climbing and unstable walk ways. On getting there the fall was beautiful even refreshing to be under. The river part is quite shallow and lots of stones in there so make sure you have proper footwear. Im glad to hear its under new management as it does need some work done to it and once changes are made I'm sure it would be a delightful place to visit.

We had good fun going for a quick swim in this waterfall. The water was refreshing, and you can go behind the falls, which is cool. There is some litter around the place, but the water is clean.
Be aware that it's not a natural water fall - it's a manmade damn or something like that. And it's slightly tricky to drive there - for example, there is a ford to cross, but water levels were safe to drive through when we were there.
The locals are constantly coming up with new ways to extract money from tourists though. A guy on a bike forced us down a side road to another guy wearing a 'reggae falls site manager' tshirt asking for donations to help keep the river clean and paint the half-painted building behind him. We knew it was free to visit, so got passed him without paying, but he was reasonably pushy and said all sorts of things to try to guilt us into paying. If you want it to be a free trip, just don't give him money (or any of the people at the falls offering to watch your car for you).

Does anyone have a picture or 2 of the falls they can post?
Written March 15, 2018
Hey, it takes about 5-7 minutes to get to the falls from where you're parked.
