Our entire experience with Captain Tamas was amazing. We took a family of five with 15,8 and 4 year olds. Dad and the older two head off to snorkel and I stayed on the boat with the 4 year old who was feeling a bit afraid. The Captains were absolutely amazing with him and spent a lot of time sitting and chatting with him on the back of the boat, inviting him to feed the fish with them, and making him feel relaxed. Back at the Motu the food and entertainment were both amazing too. A must do if travelling to Raro. All of us would have quite happily have done it every day!

With seven children in our blended family, we often stick with the free activities on our holidays but this was WELL worth the money paid. Captain Absolut kept our entire group entertained while on the boat, the show and kai were amazing and the kids are still buzzing about seeing a sea turtle. That and having plenty of hilarious 21st photos of our oldest modeling pareu and dancing made it worth every cent

Great day out. Trip out to the snorkelling spot in the lagoon was great with some turtle spotting on the way. Snorkelling sport was good with feeding of the fish which helped attached them in nice and close.
Then a trip back to one of the small islands just out from the main island where we had a great BBQ lunch which included fresh tuna, salads and fruit. Good demo of husking a coconut and climbing of tree followed other interactions with good humour. I think roughly 4 hour trip all up. Great overall value and very enjoyable lagoon cruise. Thoroughly recommend to all ages. Cheers

My 5 year old son and I loved this boat trip. It was a little cold and windy that day so we were happy we packed our lightweight rain jackets especially on the way back when the waves came over the sides of the boat. The snorkeling was in 5 metre deep water so only suitable for older kids and adults as there was a strong current. There wasn't much coral out there but large schools of large fish and lots of angel fish. There wasn't a great deal to see through the glass bottom boat as they zoom out and back. My son saw some of the fish swim under the boat as he hung out with some other kids and lovely nana's while everyone was snorkeling. Lunch on the island was very tasty but only 1/2 a sausage and bread for a child (until everyone had been served) so perhaps they could make an exception in future. Most people watched the boys entertainment and we heard lots of laughter. My son wanted to get into the water and I'm glad we did as it was absolute bliss on the beach and there were hundreds of small fish in the bay. We had a great time on our own throwing the fish crumbs and they all went crazy for them. It was just long enough and we made our way back to the mainland. Highly recommended 😀

Captain's were very entertaining, very hospitable and courteous. Very safety conscience and helpful the whole time. BBQ impressed one of the harshest critics I know who loved his meal and enjoyed the show which was educational and funny. Very impressed and highly recommend this activity to be undertaken by anyone if not everyone that visits the Cooks. Well done team

We had lots of fun with this, saw a couple of turtles. Unfortunately, the weather so was rough that it made swimming with the fish hard. The lunch was yummy, although one of our cooks was very grumpy at us. He picked up banana and onion and I said could I just have banana and he threw it down and got me just a banana. My daughter asked for a second half a sausage and was told that there were more people to feed than just her. Maybe he was just having a bad day, but it did put a damper on it, he could have been more polite. Other than that the show was great, so funny!

The lagoon was too rough for kids to snorkle, so one of my kids had to wait on the boat while adults were in the water. Maybe if we had the option on coming back another day, when it wasn't so rough, may have suited our family better. We really enjoyed the lunch cooked by Captain Cook and Captain Hook. The entertainment after lunch was fun and the kids enjoyed playing around in the water after lunch when we went to the island

Thanks for taking the time to post a review, glad to hear you enjoyed the lunch and the show. We are sorry about the snorkelling for your kids, usually people ask if they can do another day if it looks to rough but perhaps we need to be more vocal in letting our guests know this.

The day was overcast but this didnt detract from the cruise. The music on board was native to Raro, and interesting. Some were not able to snorkel, but you could either get in the water and look through your goggles at the fish below, or through the glass bottom of the boat.
Later, as we landed at the beach on the Island, a delicious lunch was waiting. BBQ fish, bananas, onions and sausages, plus a variety of salads. Plenty of food for all. After lunch a coconut husking demonstration and sarong tying demonstration on two models from the audience. Great day out.

A good show about all things coconut, variations on ways you can wear a sari, good informative commentary. Time to chill out on a beach.
BUT what prevents this reviewer giving it a 4 or 5 star ranking was that boats were too crowded at a time when Covid is still around. There were too many people snorkeling in the same area which spoiled the experience.

Sorry that there was too many people for your liking. We do offer private charters at a later time which would most likely have been the best option for you and your family.

This lagoon trip which included lunch and entertainment left me very pleasantly surprised. So often these can be cheesy and the staff are acting out because it is their job.
These boys were just delightful and it felt to me like they actually enjoyed their job. They were considerate to everyone who came along. They were professional as well as being amusing. The group of friend I was with are Asian and they also had a wonderful day. Their attention was held all of the time during the coconut and sarong show which doesn't often happen. Thank you everyone...it was a pleasure.
