we parked just beside resturant snow and caught the 9 am cable car (telecabina) (they start at 8 for every half an hour until 5 pm and if you come early there is no wating). we were dressed as worm as possible but still the winds and no sun made it feel quite cold. walking stikes were essential. we followed the yellow signs but we could go to far becasue the ground was slippery. but still it was a great experince and rhe view was amazing. pitty we did not have proper snow boots.

The Bucegi Plateau is accessible either by cable car from Busteni (which can be extremely busy sometimes and quite expensive) or by car from Sinaia through the spectacular DJ713 road, named Transbucegi, close to Piatra Arsa Chalet). Either the way you choose to climb at the altitude of 2216 meters, the plateau offers extraordinary views and thing to see, including the Sphinx and the Babele and the Caraiman Cross.
It's a must for everyone to wear proper shoes and clothes as the soil can become dangerous, no matter the season.
For food and drinks, youn can find the Babele Chalet, but make sure it's open because it can be closed.

It is 50 minutes away from Moroieni, by car so it is accessible for small kids as well. You can have some tea at the chalet then take a hike.

The access with the car to Piatra Arsă increased hugely the number of people that are visiting. The park administration is not taking any measure to educate or control the way they behave. New paths are created because the old ones are eroded or even broken by water and no one cares to repair them. Street commerce is allowed and you can buy corn, kurtoscolac or souvenirs on the way. 4x4 cars are seen frequently even in the Babele area, transporting 'mountain lovers' for 80 lei to Sinaia. The scenery is still great as ever, but you must ignore the details in foreground.

You need a cable car to reach the top and the exprience is amazing. Mind blowing view while in the cable car, the when we reach the top the view is really outstanding. Make sure don't miss their hot molded wine during winter

We got there by cable car from Busteni it cost 70 lei total to go and back, and we had to wait around 3 hours to get into it, but it is really worth it! The landscape we saw as we were in cable car just perfect! As we got to the top, its more perfect!! You can go to Babele, the one that well-known there. You really have to explore this mountain, walk as long as you can walk, bcs its really beautiful, even i found edelweiss flowers which is rare to be found! To go back again, i had to wait the cable car for 3 hours! So, come in the morning to explore this mountain. Cant describe it better, it was just so amazing.

We were going to take the cable car up from Busteni, but it just stopped running for no obvious reason (we actually got halfway up before it turned around). So we hiked up instead and spent the night in the lodge there. It's absolutely gorgeous and was a highlight of my trip to Romania.

Accessible either by cable transport or by foot, this unique place in the Carpathians is amazing in all seasons. On clear days, it offers an amazing view of the entire Prahova Valley and surrounding mountain ridges. Once you are up there, you can hike for a few hours and see the Heroes' Cross or Omu Peak, and, of course, Babele and Sfinx (rock formations that resemble a group of old women and the Sphynx). As the weather can change quickly, it is best if you have something warm with you, even on sunny summer days.
A short note on getting there - if you choose the easy and safe way up & down, i.e. cable transport, take into account it gets rather crowded during summer and winter weekends, especially if the weather is nice, so be prepared to queue both ways; if you plan on making the journey on foot, make sure you have proper equipment - i.e. trekking boots, proper clothes and you are fit for the climb / descend. It is not as easy as hiking on the plateau itself and each year there are tourists that need assistance from mountain rescue teams.

Suitable for one day hiking tour.
I like the place as I am a guide for this hiking area and I guide my own one or two days tour from Sinaia (Peles) to Bran Castle.
