At the far end of the roads of the village of Sonogna are the Froda Waterfall. It takes approx. 15 min. to walk from the central sqaure in Sonogna. There are two walkways - the paved on and a more requirering route adjacent to the mountains. The are stairs and a wooden pontoon which allows you to get a few meters from the foot of the waterfall. The crystal clear water of The Froda Waterfall crashes into a ø50m pool where you can swim but the water is cold even in summer. Benches and wooden deck chairs are installed to let you comfortably enjoy this moment of freshness.

The ride to Sonogno is wonderful. I did it by Post bus with a tour group, so no chance to stop along the way at either the amazing dam or the jumping bridge. Sonogno itself is quite charming. With some extra time, the 20 minute walk to Froda is well worth it. It's not a world-beater for height, but it is scenic and a change from the village experience of Sonogno. Along the way are one or more 'grottos' (limited menu outdoor restaurants); this was the tour's only exposure to that part of Swiss culture.

Many goats, safe paths, friendly hikers...Stop at Grotto Efra on the way back to the village. Sonogno is a beautiful village with loving hearts.
