My kids really wanted to have fun in snow/ski and Fujiten resort was a good option for us despite most of the snow being man-made at this time of the year.
We stayed a few days in Fujikawaguchiko and drove daily to Fujiten (about 20 mins).
We managed to engage the services of a ski coach without reservation (an english speaking one is difficult to find) and my kids were sufficiently trained to go on the beginner slopes on their own after a 2 hour trainign session.
Rental rates of skis and attire were reasonable. There was ample parking.
Food at the cafeteria was sufficiently good.
There is also a sleding area for younger kids.
Weekends are significantly more crowded then weekdays.

Drive from Fuji-Q Highland to Fujiten resort might take 30 mins. There is free parking just next to the resort. Inside the resort, there is a store that sell all those skiing stuffs... So need not be worry if you had forgotten your gloves, google,boots...etc.
In the 2nd level is the cafeteria. Which serves food and drinks and a good view of the whole ski resort.
Me and my wife went for private lesson for half day personal coaching which consist of 2 hrs with all the equipment included. Like Boots, skis...
The personal instructor was able to speak english and patient too. But too focus on the timing with the remaining 20mins into the duration of the lesson, he advise us to go back. Which i commented that wanted to go up the higher hill to ski down. So total is only 1hr 40mins in the private lesson.
For beginners, would advise you to have a personal trainer. So that you will know how to handle the ski instead of self learning which might be silly to see yourself falling all over.

Fujiten Snow Resort was the first official stop of our private tour courtesy of Joey's Van and Chauffer (+81 90-1778-3759(Viber/Line). Our tour guide and driver that day was Gary; and he was beyond excellent! Gary is a Filipino based in Japan so our family easily warmed up to him! It definitely made the trip light and easygoing!
I was a little bit intimidated by the idea of visiting Fujiten Snow Resort as this was honestly my first time dealing with snow. Most visitors rented skis and snowboards; but fortunately, the resort also offers a Ski Lift service for non-skiers like my family to still allow us to make the most out of our time there.
To be honest, we were struggling a bit to walk through the ice; given that we were a pretty clumsy family and compounded by the fact that the sun was glaringly bright at that time.
It took us a while to locate the ski lift (primarily because there were only a handful of visitors who opted for this activity); but the effort was worth it.
The lift afforded you great views of Mt. Fuji and the resort. They'll let you alight once you have ascended to the peak as it gives you access to a small photo op area which gives you an unobstructed view of the peak of Mt. Fuji!
Once you're done, you can just hop on back to the lift to descend back to its main station!

If you want to go play in the snow somewhere within about 90 minutes drive of the Tokyo area, this is a great place. It can be crowded at times, but if you get there early and leave early, it is good. Also, if you want to have a small place to learn to ski or snowboard, this is also good. And lastly, if you just want to go sledding and play in the snow with the family, this is a great choice for a day away from the city.
For sledding, you can do that with a sled rental and lunch for 1,700 yen. If you have your own sled, it is only 1,200 yen. If you just want to enter the park, it is just 600 yen. So not bad at all of a day of fun. Then if you are driving from the Tachikawa area, the tolls will be about 1900 yen each way on the Chuo.
Overall it is not a super large ultra ski resort, but if you just want to go hang out in the snow and maybe begin skiing or snowboarding, then this is a good choice.

Since we only had a day to spend in Kawaguchiko, we decided to go to Fujiten Snow Resort. Fujiten Snow Resort is a small ski resort along the northen base of Mount Fuji in the Fuji Five Lakes region. Fujiten is the larger of two ski resorts on Mount Fuji. The three of us were all excited as it was also our first time to visit a snow resort and ski on a winter season. It was a good choice as the snow resort also offers a perfect view of an up-close Mt. Fuji as its backdrop!
Taking the taxi from Kawaguchiko Station to Fujiten Snow Resort would cost you about 4,500 Yen (for 20 minutes) as the meter usually starts at 700 Yen. This is the only way you can go to the resort. You may also want to ask for the number of the taxi driver/company so you can just call when you need to go back to the station (since there is no taxi stand in Fujiten Snow Resort). The ‘half day’ Lift ticket is priced at 3,500 Yen (valid for 4 hours) while the 1 day Lift ticket is at 4,500 Yen.

Easily accessible from Tokyo (just hop on a bus from Shinjuku around 7am and you'll reach by 10-ish), this resort has many easy-moderate slopes for beginners. However if you book the package (bus + ticket + gear rental) make sure you get help from a Japanese friend because nothing is in English.

For me, fujiten is the most affordable snow resort and also closest to Tokyo, you can take a bus from shinjuku bus station (can purchase online with kids price half of adult), and take 1.5 hour ride to kawaguchiko station, to reach the resort, take a taxi from the station for 20 minutes. It free entrance at front, for kids playground pay for 700 yen and rent a slide for 500 yen. Since me and my kids don't play sky having here and play a slide is very fun, kids also fun with snow. And the best thing, since we moslem, the resort provide prayer room also. So, its great experience.

It could be a stopover for your Mt. Fuji trip. We went to Tokyo during winter but there was no visible snow around. We opted to visit this snow resort so the kids can enjoy playing in the snow. You do not need to pay an entrance fee to see and touch the snow. There were rentals for skis, sleds and other activities. Some special areas for skis had entrance fees. Make sure you have good gloves and jacket for protection. There were a lot of vendo machines and clean comfort rooms. There were lots of food choices in the restaurant but a little bit pricey.

I am not a sport enthusiast and i was the first time skier at that time. You could borrow the equipment (such as the ski uniform (i don't know if they have a name for that), shoes, board, and the stick). It costs around 1.000 yen for the equipment and ski lift.
My suggestion :
1. Take off your pants and don't wear it double with the ski pants. My pants was very wet after an hour of skiing.
2. You can keep your bag during skiing on their paid locker. They have a coin exchange machine near the locker. Please make sure to bring your important things with you before closing that locker. My friend had to pay it again because he forgot to bring his glove.
3. They have an ice cream machine and i recommend to buy at least 1 ice cream from that machine. They also have a store that sell hot Japanese foods.
4. For the first timer skiers, please skiing from the lowest level that near the entrance gate. No need to try from the top. :D
Have a nice skiing!!!

I went here on Dec 12th, 2017.
The problem with this place is transportation. There is no shuttle bus nor other mode to come to this resort but by hiring a taxi from Kawaguchiko St.
I hired a taxi at Kawaguchiko St. and it cost me approx. 2000 Yen (One way)
Mutoh San, the taxi driver is very friendly and he tried his best to speak English, and uses his android apps to translate. That was the one time I experience talking with a Japanese using the apps. Although it might not produce a perfect translation, but it was so helpful. But my point is that, not many Japanese would try their best effort to make tourist understand what they are saying.
I ask Mutoh San to pick me up after an hour, but he could not promise, so he arranged another taxi to pick me up. I highly appreciate his effort.
After an hour, a taxi driver named Saito San has arrived and looking for me in the resort lobby. What a surprise for me that Mutoh San was also arrived there a few minutes later, and then he was happy that I was taken good care by his friend, and he let his friend drives me back to my hotel.
The other problem with this resort, was that so many things unclear. No snow shoes rental, so if you are not equipped with snow shoes, you have to buy it at the stores. Next question, where should we keep our shoes and our other belonging when we are playing with snow? I asked the cashier of the stores, and she pointed a direction that I can rent a locker. But there is no locker..!
So I decided just to put my shoes under the bench I sat changing my shoes.
Overall, this resort is a must if you want to play snow with a very beautiful Mt. Fuji view as the background.

Hi! We plan on just playing at Chibbiko Island that has an admission fee worth 700 Yen.
Question-Are boots and snow gloves required? Or we can just use our own regular gloves and casual shoes? Thanks!

Hi!
I think you need the snow boots & snow gloves.
Of course you can use your own casual shoues and gloves, but maybe it will get soaking wet from the snow.
If you need those goods, you can buy the snow resort!
