About
Kawaguchiko Music Forest is a one of a kind musical them park, designed with a “European Alps” atmosphere standing beneath a superb view of Mt. Fuji. It holds a world-class collection of automatic musical instruments, including the world's largest "dance organ and doll orchestra" and the Philharmonic Performance Orchestrion designed for the Titanic. Stroll through the seasonally themed, art, and rose gardens, or take in the scenery from the comfort of the restaurant-cafe and shops. With the price of admission, you can also enjoy various musical experiences throughout the day. Particularly interesting are the automatic instrument demonstrations, and one of a kind live performance of musicians and opera singers. Also, experience the sand art storytelling artists backed by live musicians. This park is for all ages, enjoyable in all seasons, rain or shine.

Interesting place , many automatic organ from 1890-1905 , still working fine. Staff is very kind and willing to explain. They have some scheduled events to show “concerts” of some very ancient and big “music box”. Interesting for kids above 8-10 years and for adults.

A must see for anyone in the area. This place offers an experience you won’t find anywhere else. Beautiful views, cute shops, great short shows and fantastic souvenirs. Highly recommend, even on a rainy day.

There is not a lot to see at this feature, we liked the sound of it, but to be honest I think it’s a seasonal thing, and autumn wasn’t the right time.
I would suggest they reduce entry fees in the “off season”, as the gardens were not much to look at.

A beautiful place that store a history of orgel. Entrance fee is JPY1500, but sometimes you can find a discount sheet at Kawaguchiko Station. There are schedules of different performances in the vicinity (opera singer with automatic piano, clown of the opera, and water fountain show).

The shows were enjoyable, the grounds were well kept and laid out. Local wines for tasting and purchase were available. Some remarkable, well-preserved musical instruments/boxes. We did not do this, but you can also rent a period costume to wear while you tour around the place. We saw several couples doing it, which did add some flair to the atmosphere. Actually enjoyed walking around the town and shops near the museum as well. Lots of parking.

This was a unique experience in Japan. It felt like being in a picturesque town in Europe surrounded by lovely gardens and water features while classical music plays all around. There are neat European style buildings that you wander around the stone tiled walkways. There is a pond with a swan or two, a music hall with exquisitely decorated organs and instruments, and other buildings and shops to explore. It’s right on the lake so has great views. It also advertised concerts which sounds like it would be a great experience.
The main gift shop was one of the highlights as it was full of uniquely musically themed merchandise like stationery, ties etc.
It was a nice unique way to spend a morning or afternoon in Kawaguchiko.

Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum is not very large but has plenty of activities to keep you occupied. In the garden, you can view Mt Fuji, some flowers, and a flash tree. There are several buildings housing automated music boxes for display and sale. There are various short performances, some of which have Japanese commentaries with English and Chinese translation. There are also some interactive musical instruments you can play with, such as a musical marble run. In addition, you can participate in payable workshops or rent costumes. There are also a restaurant and a cafe. I spent around 5 hours here catching all the performances, having lunch, and checking out the souvenirs (but not taking part in the workshops or renting costumes). Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum is an charming themepark-like place that reminds me of Hokkaido Shiroi Koibito Park, Hokkaido Otaru, and Hakone Venetian Glass Museum. I would recommend Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum for music lovers, couples, and families with children.

There are several souvenir shops in the museums. I didn't see any DIY workshops for such but you should be able to buy one with your favourite songs.

The bus goes round in a loop and stops at all the different popular tourist attractions. The 1000¥ Is a daily fare. You can hop on and off if you buy the daily ticket. You can buy a 2 days ticket for 1300¥. If you only visit a few attraction you might want to buy single trip fares.
