You do get to walk through a very nice forest, the cave should be avoided by old, fat or tall people.

The cave is accessed via the green line (about a 25 minute drive).
Entrance is 350JPY per adult though the 2-day bus ticket gives a 50JPY discount (this is true for all the caves).
Before you get to the cave entrance you take a short stroll through the edge of Aokigahara forest, which is lovely!
The cave itself takes around 20 minutes to complete if you take the hard route through it. It involves a bit of crawling as the ceiling gets incredibly low (you can walk around that part and use an easier route, as the cave is circular) and I highly recommend taking it since it's more fun. Around the cave you witness various kinds of formations created by the lava flow that are amazing! Also, despite many reviews stating that "no bats are present at the cave", my friend and I saw two of those tiny cute things sleeping at the deepest end of the cave. You just have to take a glimpse into the barred crevices that are blocked from entry.
With or without bats, the cave is worth a visit just to see the formations and crawl around! It was the one we enjoyed the most out of the three (the others being the wind cave and the ice cave).

The cave is a good place to start a hike through Aokigahara forest. The hike was the highlight of our day and a must for anyone visiting the five lakes!

The cave is a natural lava flow tunnel underground. That bats make their home in the caves in summer is evident by the guano on the ground.

WARNING! If you are 1.8 m taller and above do not enter! Not unless you don't mind having to go on all fours to crawl through certain parts of the cave where the ceiling is very low and the ground rises. Before you say yes, note that while there are no bats in autumn and winter, their guano is still on the ground and with some natural ground water still dripping through the cave you might want to think twice before putting you hands on the ground or letting your clothes touch the ground as you will find its a mildly wet brown mess down there.

there is only 1 bus that goes to this area and it is about 1/2hours ride so you must ensure that you have enough time to catch the return bus for the ferry.

we were there during the sakura bloom and the road was lined most of the way with cherry blossoms, it was really stunning. the lava tube was interesting, with ripples in the floor, low ceilings and very low lights. we were glad with our helmets as without them, we would have knocked ourselves silly on the heads.

although it is 386m long, the longest cave in the area, we were able to go only a short distance as the rest was barred. the Aokigahara Jukai Forest was a treat to walk through, thick with vegetation and moss.

It was nice to get out of the center of Kawaguchiko to take a walk through the bat cave. Although no bats seem to be inhabiting the place at the moment, it was cool and educational to walk through. The cave isn't huge and you'll be done in about 30 minutes, but it doesn't cost much and the bus ride out was scenic (and a bit long).

The gift shop was nice, the staff were helpful (and spoke enough English), and the surrounding area is lovely.

Also, there are a lot of trails in the area you can walk on, and as this is just at the edge of Japan's (in)famous 'Suicide Forest', it might be an interesting story to tell friends and family later.

If you like to see nature formation or creation, and you love to visit caves. This is right place. This cave doesn't have bats as name suggested, but its a lava cave formed by eruption during volcanic activity. It has some place where you have to literally be on your knees to pass through. 30 minutes is good enough to visit all parts. It has fees of 300 yen, do take helmet it is needed to visit this place.

We enjoyed our visit. There is a small fee to get in, then a short walk to the cave entrance.

Helmets are provided and are needed as the ceiling is very low in places, requiring you to bend and almost crawl at times. The cave is very cold so wear something warm.

We didn't see any bats but we were glad we visited because it was an interesting experience.

Wasn't sure what to expect but it's a small system of caves, didn't see any bats. The kids that were there were really scared as it's terribly dark in some areas and the floor is all uneven. If you small children with you or have mobility problems then I don't recommend a visit, you'll need to be pretty agile to get around, as some areas require kneeling and crouching to get through.
We took about 20 minutes to see everything. Glad we made the bus on the way back, would've hated to be stuck in this area for a few hours: food options are really limited (ice cream and some snacks) and nothing else really.

We didn't know what to expect. We got there, paid our money, were given hard hats and told to walk up that path. Once you reach the cave there are no staff, you just walk around the cave on your own for as long as you like. Some of the parts have a very low cave ceiling height. Fun though.
