Need to spend some effort going up the steep 389 steps staircase in order to reach the lookout area. However, worth the effort cos the view of Mt Fuji + Pagoda is perfect! On another hand, we spend 45 and 30mins going up and down the Kachi Kachi Ropeway too a day before. So they both serve the same purpose of getting better lookout to Mt Fuji so you just need to choose one!!
Conclusion, if you want better view Pagoda, but need to ride on 15mins train at Kawaguchiko Station that cost 620 yen return tickets, and need to spend another 20 to 30mins on foot to go to the shrine and go up the staircase. Convenient wise is the Ropeway as its very closed to Kawaguchiko station and served by touring bus evey 15 mins and the bus stops right outside the ropeway station.

Top spot for a view on Mount Fuji. Unfortunately when we visited the view was blocked by the clouds.
Still worthwhile going out cause the clouds might open up every minute. Just hope and pray you'll get the view while there.

You simply must do this one during sakura season if you're staying by Kawaguchiko. Choose a clear day, early in the morning to make it worth your while. As a previous reviewer had advised, the nearest station is Shimoyoshida, which has a carpark if you drive. Make sure to pay the station master for an all-day 300yen ticket to display on your dashboard.

Make sure you are going to the right place before you go, not many things to visit here. If you are going for the view of Mountain Fuji with a pagoda, please check Fuji Sengen Jinja Shrine for the right location. These two shrines share a similar name and they are in the same area, but they are in different locations.

We went there and the site of Sengen Shrine do not correspond to the one in picture. However it is a nice temple and if you climb up a bit you will have great view from the camping above.

Go here if you want the postcard view of Mt Fuji with the cherry blossoms and the Chureito Pagoda. Need to take a 300 yen one way, 15 min train ride to get to the Syimoyoshida Station from Kawaguchiko Station and a small walk to the Shrine. For the pagoda will need to take a flight of stairs though.

Highly recommended to take a train from Kawaguchiko Station on the Fujikyu Line to Shimoyoshida Station and do a brief 10 mins walk to the entrance of the pagoda. Once exit from Shimoyoshida Station there is a guide map on the walking path to the entrance and this walking path provides a different sight of Mount Fuji with paddy green field and railway track. Entrance to the pagoda compound is free where you'll find an elevated wooden platform for picturesque postcard photos of Mount Fuji. Mount Fuji is very shy. So remember to check weather forecast for sunny day.

This is Asama Sengen Shrine. There is no Chureito Pagoda here. The Pagoda is at the Arakura Sengen Shrine near Shimo-Yoshida station.

I had seen this picture many a times on web and so we had decided that we shall surely visit this place to take a family picture. However when you reach here, you will realise that getting a family pic in front of the Pagoda and Mt Fuji is difficult. However to take the picture of the landscape, this is the perfect place.
You will have to climb 450 steps to reach to this place. Though there isnt much once you reach the top. After spending 15 minutes you will have to climb down the stairs. There is a shrine at the foot of the hill. You also have a washroom and a small shop near the shrine.

This place is worth the 400 set of stair to get up to see the view. On a clear day you can see the whole city and a sunning view of Mt.Fuji.

Does this attraction have opening hours or days when it's actually closed? I read that on 10 jan 2017 a few attractions in the fuji area will be closed.

Hi!
I will be going to Chureito Pagoda the first week of April 2017. Is there any chance there will be cherry blossoms over there at that time?
Also, how much does it cost to get there from Tokyo? I will be staying in Shinjuku and want to calculate how much will be round trip via train to get there and back.
Also, any recommendations of places to eat brunch in the area near the shrine?
Thanks!

Hi, for cherry blossom the dates always vary every year. So you've gotta Google online nearer the date. As for cost of train travel, you can always check hyperdia website for the exact amount. I'm not aware of any food available near the pagoda but you can always have your meals at Kawaguchiko Station.

Hi there.
I will be landing at Haneda Airport at 10.30pm. If I manage to catch the bus from the airport to JR Haneda Station, can I get some directions to go to your hotel by foot from the station?
If we plan to take the Keikyu Train instead from Haneda Airport to Keikyu Haneda station, can I get the directions as well to go to your hotel by foot from the station?
Kindly include as many restaurants or shops name on the way so that it'll be easier to find the hotel.
Thank you.
