Badrinath Kedarnath Himalayan Pilgrimage

Nestled among the serene heights of the great Himalayas are 02 holy Hindu pilgrim-destinations namely Kedarnath, and Badrinath, collectively known as DOr Dham. These pilgrimage centers draw the maximum numbers of pilgrims each year, thus becoming the most important hubs of religious travel in the whole of Northern India. Traditionally, the pilgrimage begins from the West and ends in the East. Thus, the DO Dham Yatra commences from Delhi Rishikesh then to Kedarnath and finally Badrinath.

It's a 3 km uphill trek from Kanakchauri to the temple. The trek is not easy. Please carry enough water and snacks. People with knee problem refrain from the climb. Also travel in groups as there are bears. But once you reach the view is heavenly. A gallery of Himalayan peaks wait for you.

Kartickswami a Temple of Lord Kartikeya located at the altitude of 3050 mtr. One can go from Rudraprayag by bus or shared Jeep to Kanakchori the gateway of Kartickswami a distance of 40 km . It takes 2 hrs and 30 minutes to reach there on the Rudraprayag - Pokhri route.Stay at any lodge for the night and talk to any guide for the next morning trek. We started at 4 a.m. in the morning. The road is full of pebbles and roots of trees. Everyone should carry a rechargeable torch and a stick for the trekking through steep uphill and dense Forest. Last part is very steep and have to cross about 50 stone steps to reach the temple areas. Sun rises at 6-20 a.m. When the rays of the sun appears on numerous snow clad peaks. One can see Bander Punch,Kedarnath dome, Meru and Sumeru,Choukhamba,Neelkanth,Donagiri,Nanda devi, Nanda Ghunti,Troshul in 360° horizon. It's a scenetilating views of life time. Best time of visit October to december. Two festival's held at June and November. The idol of Kartikeya is naturally curved from stone. One shouldn't forget to sip glass of Rhododendron juice at Kanakchori.
