Definitely worth getting up at 5am!
We left our hotel at 6am so we could be there for sunrise. We were the only non-Indians so it was even more special. Our driver negotiated 1000 for our private boat. Our boat rowers were 2 young guys in mid 20’s. It was such fun to experience it with them. As they rowed us toward the fort they told us about the history and what it is like when the Kumba Mela occurs. As they rowed us towards the confluence we were going right into the sunrise -bright orange ball in the sky. We could hear the chanting from the temple on the other side of the river. There was a definite difference between the Yamuna and the Ganges-Yamuna was gentle floating and as soon as we crossed over into the Gagnes you felt a difference in the movement of the boat. It was wonderful to watch people bathing and singing. This was full on India in all her glory. I absolutely loved this outing.

    Visit to Sangam at Prayagraj
Visited Sangam on 17th Feb. Since the annual kumbmela is celebrated between makarsankaranthi and Mahasivarathri huge croud visited and we had to take a boat to go to reache actual sangam around 4 KM from the normal place where we could find boats for a cheaper rate. After reaching the exact location ie where the yamuna, ganges and the invisible saraswathi confluence there were thousands of boats and the platform on which people perform rituals for their forefathers was not visible atall.Lot of migratory seagulls from Australia( I was told by my boatman) were flying near the boats. The boat ride took about 3 to 4 hours. As there was mild breeze, we actually enjoyed the boat ride. If people want to visit with out getting into too much croud they should visit before makar sankarnthi or after Maha Sivarathri.

Prayagraj Sangam: Where the waters converge, souls unite, and the spirit of devotion flows eternally.
Prayagraj Sangam, situated at the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and mythical Saraswati rivers, is a divine sanctuary exuding tranquility and spirituality. The site attracts pilgrims from around the world, drawn by its sacred waters and the profound sense of devotion that permeates the air. The Kumbh Mela, held here every twelve years, is a testament to its significance, drawing millions seeking spiritual purification. Beyond its religious importance, Prayagraj Sangam showcases India's rich cultural heritage through its temples and ashrams. My visit was deeply transformative, offering a profound connection to the divine and a glimpse into the essence of faith. Whether you seek spiritual enlightenment or cultural immersion, Prayagraj Sangam promises an unforgettable experience.

To visit Prayagraj (Allahabad) and take a holy dip in Sangam is the ultimate desire of most Hindus and we had also been been planning to visit Prayagraj also known as Teertraj (king of all pilgrim sites). Of course we had no plan to take a dip in the Sangam but wanted to see how two rivers are meeting. Our driver took us to the boat hiring place where we had to do a lot of bargaining with a boat owner. Most boats are hired by a group of people and a pandit accompanies them to the Sangam. There people take dips amidst the chanting of mantras and prayer for the salvation of their dead ancestors. I and my wife did not have any such wish. So the boat man agreed for lesser amount, i.e., 2500/- fpr our exclusive use although the normal rate is 4000/- to 5000/-, because of the charges for pandit. The boat man told us that the charges are high because there is a sort of syndicate of boat owners, who get contracts by paying extra bucks to officials concerned. The up and down boat ride to Sangam took us about 90 minutes. My wife washed her face and I also did the same. Thus ended our Sangam experience. I took a few photographs of boat and Sangam. Fleecing of money is quite common at most pilgrim sites in India but tourists pay considering the locals as poor people.

This is the very first place to be felt and realised..
Yes.. Three rivers merge here and hence the name "Triveni sangam"..
plastic water cans are available near the river bank.. So, you can take the holy theertham to Your home..
Many temporary shelters are made and You could perform the poojas to your ancestors here..

Nothing more can explain this place.. Just come here and feel the glory of the theertham..

One can take a boat and go in middle of Sangam where 3 rivers meet. They usually take 60 rs per person in case a group is together. Or individual 200 rs for whole boat. Water is very muddy . U can stand in floor about 5 ft depth . Went in July end of flow was not high. Or you can choose to take bath at ghat.

Triveni Sangam is one of the holiest places for Hindus. It is said that all your sins are washed away in the confluence point. Depending upon available time, you can plan your activity. You may travel up to the Sangam, confluence point, by available transport or on foot. From there you can hire a boat. Make sure to bargain with a few boat-men before finalising. And also finalise what you would have to pay at the bathing platform. Be aware that rates vary pretty widely! If you want to enjoy a boat ride too, you may hire it at the point nearby the Fort, but it would, obviously, be costlier.

The confluence of rivers Ganga Ji, Yamuna Ji and Saraswati Ji is considered the holiest place. Once you visit this place, it is simply mesmerizing. There are boats to take to the exact places where the big rivers actually meet. The rivers are so huge that you feel actually in the middle of a big lake.
We went there in the morning, so it was not too crowded. It took around an hour for the to and fro journey. At the meeting point, if you look closely, you can see the two different water flows actually merging.
If you visit UP, this place is must-see. Several people take a holy dip at the confluence; but even if you don't, simply being there gives you peace.

Triveni Sangam, a fantastic place. Though the name Triveni Sangam itself means meeting of 3 rivers, there are actually 2 visible (i.e Ganga and Yamuna) and third is told as underground (the Saraswati). Nevertheless, one can take a boat to reach the exact meeting point where the water of two different colours and temperature are quite visible. People take dip here and offer their prayers. The flow is quite a bit and the boats are mostly archaic, so please ensure that the boat has at least some life jackets. Anyways if in Prayagraj this is a must do.

Pro tip: the boats are available on both the sides of the new Yamuna Bridge, however the meeting point is closer to the easter side and the availability is higher. Please do not fall in the trap of various prayer services. Just go and enjoy the place and if you feel like, take a dip. the boat guys arrange it. Also the prices for the boat vary and can be negotiated to less than half of the original quote, even if you charter the whole boat.

As always, important for Hindus to go here for a holy dip. Park your taxi behind the Hanuman temple on the sand, walk down and take a boat. A private boatman will cost about INR 2000. The boatman himself gets paid INR 150. So please tip generously.

He will take you to the main sangam.
He has to wait to find a spot. Then he with park there. Get out of the boat on to the main big boat in the main sangam and you can take a dip there. You can do your sangam pika by hiring a priest there for a small fee.

While it is easy for men to change into dry clothes, not so easy for women. So take a Boat that has curtains.
Regardless in the searing heat of Prayagraj all clothes will get dried up by the time you reach the back tk the shores.
