New lighthouse

This is known as new lighthouse. The old lighthouse is also close to it. Entry is free. Beautiful breeze from the top. Sea view is just too awesome. Close to bus stop

You can see whole Mahabalipuram from the top of lighthouse. It costs 10 Rs. For photography, there is 20 Rs extra. There are two museums also, which you can also see. There is separate entrance fee for the museums (Entry - 10 Rs, Photography - 20 Rs).

The lighthouse is really tall and scary. However, the view at the to is good. Since there is a lot of development around the lighthouse, it is not scenic or picturesque anymore. Only photographers may understand this. Nevertheless, if you like to see the top view of this city, then you may visit this place at a small entry fee.

If you go by just tourism value, the lighthouse is not worth much but it is fun if you have never been inside a lighthouse before. It is not very tall, ticket is 10 INR. Once you reach the top via the spiral staircase, the view is very nice. Just stay there for 10-15 mins, click a few pics and... More

More than a century old . The climb up may be challenging. One stairway in completely one -way (only up or down). Little or no crowd control. But views are magnificent !

This is a very-very old structure which has survived the tide of time, but sadly is being plundered in the name of tourism. The flight of stairs leading to the top of the lighthouse are extremely narrow and the last flight of 10 metallic stairs are enough to churn anybody's stomach. You have to walk with your foot curved sideways... More

First you have to walk a lot (climb) to reach the light house. This light house built in seventh century has a circular tower made of natural stone. One can have a spectacular view of Mammallapuram on top of it. Security should be beefed up as I had to complain to the officer on duty about two lovers writing their... More

Lighthouse was earlier used for ships/boats passing through that part. Now this one open for public and that is amazing. My first hand experience of a lighthouse and this wants to make me visit many more around the country and world. Best way to get 360* view of the city.
