The Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and Centre for Herpetology is a cool place to spend a couple of hours. With over 2,500 reptiles the Croc Bank is a research and breeding center as well as a place to get up close to crocs and snakes. The snakes were definitely my favorites, especially the cobras! The venom extraction is so interesting. There are many types of crocodiles with descriptions/information of each. You can also watch the crocodiles being fed. It's a nice place to spend a few hours with your family. You may even learn something!

Not huge, and the residents don't dash about much, that is the nature of the beast.
But very informative, and they are genuinely well looked after. Plus the importance of the Environment is well flagged up.
Doesn't take too long, maybe an hour and a half, including the snake section, which costs a few rupees extra. Here you can see 4 different local varieties being milked for their venom, in order to obtain antidotes. Commentary in Tamil, but it didn't worry me. I am sure that you can ask questions in English.
About 14k from Mamallapuram which is where I was staying. About half an hour on the moped. Best wear a helmet on this road, in order to avoid depleting your budget

It is a very well maintained enclosure. It is amazing to see so many different types of Crocodiles and a must-see are the Giant Turtles. The only thing one must be prepared for is dealing with the summer heat, else it is a very pleasant experience. You can stand for hours and watch these crocodiles oblivious to the audience.

Hundreds of crocodiles in one place, wow is the word, Enjoyed seeing them making sound, their lazy walking and sleeping together without fighting. There are different kinds, Thursday would be better as they feed them, huge ones I have never seen before. Also, there is a snake venom extraction place. Learnt a lot about snakes and about snake bites and remedies, staff provided detailed explanation which was really helpful, they answer all your queries without any hesitation which is good. Overall, an awesome experience.

If compared with other similar places in Australia and USA this is not very exciting and well done place . I give a 4 stars as it is good value for money ( 100 rupee for adult , 50 for children in other words , very. Heap )
Ponds are small , not well maintained and filthy ( cro odiles love filthy waters 😊0
Don’t expect much but there are plenty of Crocs , snakes and I miss to see Komodo dragon ( I think he was sleeping inside )
Visit if you love reptiles and don’t have anything better to do

A diverse park with a variety of crocodiles, turtles, tortoises brought from various habitats of the world. Information boards are properly displayed at all the enclosures. All the creatures are maintained in almost natural habitat and are in a healthy condition.

This place is very attractive and informative regarding reptiles. Kids to adult everyone will enjoy this place. You keep approximately one hour to see everything. Entry fees is ₹100 and ₹20 for parking. Snake park entry fees ₹30. There are wide variety of crocodiles and tortoises. We were able to spot all of them but didn't get to see the feeding. Snake park 2PM to 3PM are close for lunch break. Had a great time looking at the crocodiles & other reptiles. A must visit place.

It was the warmest time of the day, nearly no other visitors. The reptiles in the pools, sleeping? - no movements . - and than it was this very fetid smell, no thank you so much and good by. :) Much better in the morning, with feeding time! There are a lot of different crocs!! :)

A good place to visit. You can spend 2-3 hours easily. There are many reptiles 🐊 species but the crocodiles are the man in focus. More than that this place is best for kids. The afternoon will be a preferable time on leave days.

It was lovely, though the area is small, the maintenance is good and place clean. Found many crocodiles and alligators here. Even snake lessons are also useful. Children enjoyed a lot.
