Walking distance from anywhere in the town.
Easily accessible. But its not been maintained well. Its very dirty. Yet very serene & peaceful.

This is not a very long beach and strong waves make it unsafe for swimming. We saw many young kids looking for shells, which they sell for a living. These shells are used for handicraft items.

Great experience to visit this place. Good vibe and clean surroundings. The nearby stalls are economical and offer good snacks. Definitely a good refresher after a hectic week.

Nice beach. Reminds me of Dreamland beach of Bali. It’s a touristy beach basically. Had a lunch in a restaurant with a nice sea few

But really nothing that special. Bit sparse & not much nature.
Definitely not worth driving down for an hour from Chennai!

If i would have to say personally, i would award this beach the Best Beach in India. The Blue Pristine waters, Dolphins and many more. You see Foreigners all around, few surfing, few fishing, photography and a lot of to do. If you lucky you could sail with Dolphins too. Its just back of Shore Temple cross the rocks that are behind and you could see this amazing beach.

Mahabalipuram Beach is one of the Famous Beach near to Chennai situated just around 55 kms from Chennai. It's good place to hang around the beach and spend some beautiful time during your leisure time. The beach is clean and cool air flows continuously with good amount of Wind pushing the water wave to shore which one can enjoy like anything especially kids enjoyed a lot here. We had visited this beach during the December time and there was good number of crowd due to Christmas time but it was not at all crowded sine Beach is expanded in vast area so there is no need to worry about the place to enjoy around the beach.

This beach is situated near the Shore temple so if you are planning to visit this place you can cover both beach and shore temple on same day. Beach can be viewed from the shore temple too but can't go near the beach due to barricades. In order to reach the temple/beach one has to park the vehicles in the Parking area allocated and then need to walk a good amount of distance in sand crossing by shops on the side which is located adjacent side of the shore temple road. Here kids can enjoy Horse ride and some other local ride games such has circular horse toy swing, local giant wheel etc. Over all best beach and should not be missed if you ever happen to stay or crossing Mahabalipuram
