This lake has a lot of religious significance for the local Buddhists. Do not come here expecting a picnic atmosphere.

Tips:
- Walk to the top of the hill if you can for a very beaustiful view of the lake and the surroundings from the viewing tower on the top. On the way you also cross a holy cave
- Do not miss the Tashi Choling Monastery near the car park as you exit the lake. I hardly found anyone going to this monastery after visiting the lake. It is a big monastery with a large number of lamas living here.

One of the most peaceful and serene places that I have ever come across in my life. The place also has religious significance both for Buddhists and Hindus alike. There are idols, temples, and structures all around that signify the holiness of this place and it has some sort of influence on people too when they visit. The shape of the lake is in the form of a foot, and it has religious folklores attached to it.

Amazing discovery about the lake, you will find no leaves on the lake as the birds pick these tree sheddings and park them aside keeping the lake clean.

Please buy fish food at the entry gate and don't forget to feed them, it is a joyous experience to watch them gather around and devour those dried wheat balls.

Spend some time and immerse in this marvel of nature.

Sikkim govt changed it a lot.

As shown in picture entrance to it changed and you cant go near to original lake and cant feed food to fish

Instead of it small artificial similar lake created not worth visiting.

I think local and govt took this step of changes made is not in interest of tourists.

To view original lake from upward need to go upstairs with about 180 steps and again for coming down same steps to be followed

we went early morning. The walk to reach the lake is so breathtaking with trees on both sides. It has slight inclines but can be walked by most people of all ages. Ideally I would have liked a guide/booklet which talks more about the history of the lake, nevertheless a must visit.

This is a sacred lake and there are lots of prayer flags around it as well as the usual prayer wheels and statues.
There is a path up to a view point which goes past a cave. It's worth going up if you can manage it. There's a snack shop and toilets there.
An easier way down past some local houses is signposted from the top.

None of the tourist blurb from the tourism media tells you about the negatives. You walk through this pristine forest.. and then you are rained on by leeches.. hundreds of not 1000s of them. For the faint hearted it will leave you screaming for mercy as you undress and add tobacco juice. BEWARE! and its locally called " THE LAP OF BUDDHA " nobody tells you that either. Is it all its cracked up to-be ? not really but its a daytrip.

What a beautiful lake! Perfect with the backdrop of thick lush green forests. This place will give you the Switzerland feels. Perfect for taking photos. I loved this place the best in my entire Sikkim tour.

It is the Tibbetan myth doing rounds in these parts of Sikkim, that this lake is blessed and if you pray for something good to happen, standing by the brink of this lake, it comes true, and your wish gets fulfilled. It is also amazing to note that though this lake is surrounded by trees and jungles on the mountain ranges, no dried leaves ever fall on this lake and the lake remains clean, through the year round.
The lake is beautiful, filled with fish. Its a long walk from the place where your car will leave you, through the mountainous terrain and forest road, but it is totally worth it. There will be many picture perfect moments to capture in your camera. This lake is a travellers' delight.
