Such a lovely place! They call this place as valley of flowers, since we visited in the month of May just before monsoon, we couldn't witness that much yet I would recommend this place for it's beautiful and wonderful landscape. We started bit early around 7am and reached this picturesque valley from Lachung village in one hour.
Be ready with your DSLR or any camera to take 'n' number of pics. Don't forget your thermal wear and umbrella as the temperature is around 5 deg in May and sometimes it drizzles also. Yaks graze everywhere and hot spring was also a different experience for us. On the whole we enjoyed this magnificent place!

We visited this beautiful valley during our North Sikkim tour with a stay at Lachung. Dubbed, Sikkim’s valley of Flowers, the place blooms with rhododendrons during the spring blooms.
The place is surrounded by snow capped peaks on all sides constantly aided by the sounds of the flowing Lachung river and the cold winds at 12000 ft.
Quite a peaceful retreat and a recommended break from the bustling city noises.

Though we could not go to the real Yumthang valley location as permit allowed only drop off at 8 km from Lachung on 23rd Feb. You can walk up another 3 km. But what was reachable was beautiful, snow covered and offered wonderful views all around. There was no need to go to Zero point as snow was there right on the road side. Though previous day was rainy, the day we went was clear and wonder why the army did not allow access little further.

Visited the place by May end, the spring flowers had disappeared by then. But Athe valley was green with Yumgtang chu flowing cutting across and Yaks grazing. It’s a photographers paradise. April time would be ideal I feel. The view and experience could vary based on season and the weather of the hour. But I bet the place will have its beauty in all weather throughout. The drive to the place from Lachung city is also breath taking. One gets to see the snow peaks as in the tobleron e chocolate cover. Never to be missed. The hot spring is walkable from here.

We have been to yumthang valley in december and the mountains are completely filled with snow. This place is having stunning views and one should not miss it. People who doesnt have boots can take from the shops which are near the valley. You can enjoy hot maggi in the cold weather. We have thoroughly enjoyed the trip and it is a lifetime experience.

The valley is close to 1 1/2 hours drive from the hotel And offers lovely views. There are multiple locations where you can get fantastic clicks for yourself. I am told that the valley blooms in mid of April and when we visited the place in the last week of March it was totally mesmerising. The free flowing river and clean and offered great views. Must visit

Yumthang Valley in North Sikkim which is at around 12500 fts/3950 Mtrs is also often known as the Valley of flowers as because of all those seasonal flowers like Primulas all around the valleys and also the different species of Rhododendrons and Magnolias all around the valley. Yumthang valley at around 22 Kms from Lachung in North Sikkim is about an hour drive through the alpine forest of high coniferous and pine trees along with the different species of Rhododendrons all along the way which in time makes the trip amazing. The high mountains on both side is just so nice to see and experience.

Written April 24, 2022
How can we plan for gurudonhmar, zero point, yumthung valley nathula pass andr bit if Darjeeling???
Written July 29, 2021
The Places are in different location. Gurudongmar Lake Zero poin and Yumthung in one side . You need to reach Gantok first and stay one night there Contact with a travel agent for your trip to Lachung & Lachen 2N/3D, Get the help of google to find some good tourism contact no. After return from there you have to stay again one night in Gantok and again you need to contact with a travel agent to get a pass for Nathula Pass. Return back to Gantok and book a Cab for Darjeeling or stay at Gantok . (Explore Gantok site scene and next day leave for Darjeeling) .
Day 1 Gantok
Day 2&3 lachung & lachen
Day 4 Gantok
Day 5 Nathula Pass / Leave for Darjeeling or stay at Gantok
Day 6 Site scene at Gantok and leave for Darjeeling
You need to stay minimum 2 days to explore darjeeling

Would Yumthang valley be accessible in February month or closed due to snow/snowfall?
Written December 27, 2020
Hi,
Access to Yumthang Valley in the month of February totally depends on the amount of snowfall during the time. December to March is a winter time and Yumthang at an altitude of around 4000 mtrs is mostly covered with snow due to the continuous snowfall. If the snowfall is on continuous basis and heavy then the access will not be possible.
