Such a well managed spiritual place with peace , Madan Mohan ji idol is one of three idols made by Vajranabh, Great grand son of Krishna Bhagwan. Other two are Govind Dev ji and Gopinath ji both in Jaipur. It is believed that Vajranabh asked his great grandma Rukamaji that how was he looked like? On guidance of Rukamani ji he made first idol , When she saw it , said only his feet match, this idol is Madan Mohan ji. Vajranabh than ordered another idol, again Rukmani ji said it's middle part matches, that is Gopinath ji in Purani basti in walled city of Jaipur. Finally third one was made and for that She agreed that yes it's face is exactly same as of Lord Krishna. Thus it become a belief that if one have darshan of all three idols in a day than it is like having sakshat darshan of Krishna. Now a days with improved roads and transport fecility one can have मंगला दर्शन at 5 am of Govind Dev ji followed by धूप arti darsan of Gopinath ji and than head to Karauli that is just 4 hr journey by car and have राजभोग दर्शन at 1130 hrs of Madan Mohan ji or if miss than evening Jhanki at 1730 hrs in winter or 1800 hrs in summers. Make sure you are skilled driver as you have to drive through narrow market entering from Ganesha Gate and parking outside Old Rawal . Aarti darshan is so serene and if you can sit for some time before darshan opening, can enjoy संकीर्तन suNg by devotee. Kailadevi darshn is also very close just an hour's drive of 22 kms not to miss।

Follow the clanging bells in the evening towards the temple and be sure to remove your shoes before entering. Inside you can observe worshipers, kneeling, standing, sitting, walking in a giant circle and woman keeping time with the castanets to the continuous singing, chanting and celebratory chaos and joy of the place! All are waiting for the curtain to be pulled back for the golden goddess to appear. Really interesting, but please be mindful and respectful of those who are here to pray.

After finishing a comprehensive tour the Karauli City Palace we ventured to the adjoining Madan Mohan ji temple, (dedicated to the tutelary deity, Lord Krishna), for the evening aarti ceremony, (songs sung in praise of the deity, when the light (open flame) is being offered). As you would expect there was lots of noise, drums and chanting, quite moving, an experience to behold.

As western tourist this was a fascinating place that our tour guide took us to.

Karauli is not that big but this place was very busy, as it apparently is every day for evening devotion.

But the 'highlight' is at the end when the crowd disperses but around 200 women sit at the rear of the space chanting and singing

Quite moving to watch

Finally got to visit the temple, it is one of the best temples for Krishna devotees. A big relief is the maintenance and system of temples. It's clean, well organised and properly taken care of by Temple administration. Prasad and other blessings of deity are easily available to common men. Sevaa is carried by very proficient Bengali and local servers.
Enjoyed it thoroughly.

There is hardly any signage for this famous temple. It is located in the old city of Karauli. Even when you enter the temple, it has no history board for the tourist or no body guiding. Just have darshan of this famous temple and leave.
