There is nothing much to see in Koyna dam other than the drive from Chiplun city is very good, where range of moumntains and plateaus will still your mind with clear blue sky. The authority don't allow people to enter the dam area, though you can get a glimpse of it from Nehru Udyan there. But it's worth to visit... More

A large dam and nice view of dam from the NEhru Garden on top of the hill. Can't go and have a close look. Forest around and very calm place. Three to four hotels near the dam for stay and food.

The main source of drinking water in the West Maharashtra, this dam is situated in a beautiful place in the Sahyadri mountain ranje. Now you cannot go near dam or visit/walk on the wall due to security reasons.

The most beautiful thing about the Koyna dam is the view of the dam from your stay. Make sure you are staying at the right place. We, The Musafirs(motorcycling group) stayed at Shristi Lake view resort. The rooms are ok, but the view is mesmerizing. A good weekend getaway destination.
