HIGHLY RECOMMENDED; YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED

Lovely setting, good safe swimming from several beaches, all with lawns and benches for lounging; good parking too. This is a really well maintained place with a nice 6.4km path around it - albeit for walkers, no cycles. There's an aquatics centre based there, and a very good bar/informal restaurant too, both on the South East side. We visited several times: found it a bit too busy (but great for families with energetic kids) at peak times, but idyllic in the early morning for quiet swims. It's a credit to the local community.

Excellent location to take children for paddling & swimming, & picnics & sunbathing, they also have slides & climbing frames for children, easy for parking & very close by to lake, there is no cost to go.

Lac du Drennec - Commana - Monts d'Arrée - What an amazing spot!
Aug 2018 • Family
This peaceful lake (reservoir) has lots to offer:
- trout fishing (you can fish with lures, bait or flies for brow or rainbow trouts
- walking (a walk around the lake takes about one hour and a half)
- aquatic sports such as kayaking, paddle boarding, boating
- children swimming and play areas
- ideal spot for a rest and a picnic

We spent the day there, felt restored and refreshed. The team hiring kayaks and paddle boards were helpful and kind. They even shared their knowledge and expertise to a first time "paddler". They also provided all necessary equipment, such as lifejackets.

There is a lot of parking spaces, most of it in the shade, handy on a warm summer's day. It is accessible for wheelchair users. There are beds and breakfasts, as well as a campsite nearby.

The walk around the lake or the kayaking around it are both to be recommended. Although the lake is tucked away and not so easy to find, it is well worth persevering, as you won't regret it when you get there.

Nearby, in Commana, you can also visit the Musee des Monts d'Arree, ecomuseum on a local miller's family and history.

This lake is a delight to the eyes, ears (quiet) and the soul (completely unspoilt).
Don't hesitate, if you are in the area, bring a picnic and enjoy!
