We found the village full of lived in charm. It has a real village feeling. the village proper i.e. the stream is 15 min walk from the entrance, but the path has been beautifully planned, there is a bullet train viaduct that crosses that path, but its okay. the entrance is 5 min off the main road. buses from wuyuan go here. it was not that crowded, but can imagine peak season would be crowded

I went there in April during a Chinese holiday (Qing Ming Jie) and there were not so many people as I thought there would be. The village is pretty nice and you can do it in 2 hours or less. There is a lot of food stalls and restaurants there. You can do part of the canal in a boat. There is a lot of shops for shopping too, but a lot of them sell the same thing. There was a shop where you could write a postcard and they would sent it for you! Very nice idea! There was also a shop where you could buy a figurine and DIY, like painting or writing something on it. Ticket entrance was RMB60, but if you have the village package ticket it is included.

This was a great place to stay, even on a Chinese holiday. We stayed at the Brook Hotel. Two nights accommodation and we went cycling up the valley behind the village as well as hang out and enjoy the ambiance of the village.

I am completely unimpressed by this place. first, you have to walk a long way along the field (which is not that bad), then, walk through 1 km of merchant stalls before even getting to the village (the sign is the elevated high speed train tracks). The village itself has a small stream, and along its banks are more shops. the only highlight is the town center and is crowded with tourists. I think it is a complete waste of time to visit this place. you don't have to venture far from shanghai, suzhou or hangzhou to see much better towns, like Nanxun, tongli, or Zhujiajiao. don't go, even if you have paid the combination ticket. it is a waste of time.

The place is really nice and peaceful specially not on a Chinese holiday when its really not recommended to travel. I also had the chance to enter at night time which is a lovely experience by its own. The locals are very nice and hospitable like most local Jiangxi people.
