Long walk, lots of stairs and worth the effort!

Longwantan National Forest Park is about just over 1 hour drive away from Wenzhou City center. There is no public bus system. Only way to get here is by car or by tour bus. This is a well designed eco walk. All the walkways are all concrete or cobblestone. There are handrails everywhere. Lots of garbage bins and washrooms placed in strategic locations. There are lots of areas with benches and rest areas. Can accommodate a huge group of people without any issue. As for the "walk", it is not for beginners. The first couple of hours is just going up stairs. There are a few flat spots but think of this as going up many many flights of stairs. If you have children, be prepared to carry them. This place is NOT handicapped friendly, nor stroller or wheelchair friendly. There is a couple of "convenience stores" however their selection is very limited and very pricey. We all brought food along to eat at the top. Recommend you bring your own refreshments and snacks for this trip. At the beginning of the hike, there is an adult version of a jungle gym. It is placed beside the path so you can choose to do it or not. After expressing all this negativity - the actual scenery was AMAZING. Lots of waterfalls, amazing natural waterscapes and if the weather is hot, lots of swimming pools to cool off. The coupe de grace was the glass bottom view point 1000 meters up. Of course you see that the glass is just glued into place which begs the question about the integrity of the whole platform but its worth the risk. It is breathtaking. You can take a short cut down the mountain by sliding down on a granite slide. This costs 30 RMB but you can get down the whole mountain in less than 5 minutes. They lend you some leather pants protectors and gloves and you go down the chute. We were so exhausted from the climb up that we were willing to do anything to get down without having to go down stairs. It definitely added value to our experience. Very similar to the slides at the Great Wall of China except this slide was 600 meters long. Final analysis, lots of stairs and incredible scenery. Lots of places to take pictures and enjoy the view. However if you don't like climbing stairs, don't come here.
