Stayed recently for one night with our German friends at their suggestion and we had a marvellous time, firstly out on the balcony enjoying a beer as the sun set then later in the restaurant where the food and service were absolutely first class. Breakfast next morning was good rather than great!

Nice hotel and the views are spectacular. Really enjoyed the large room with items that are everything you need. Walk up steps with luggage is a bit of a problem. Lots of old, old steps that remind us of Game Of Thrones! Don't know how they did it!!

Hirschhorn is my favorite town on the bike ride from Heidelberg up the Neckar. It looks like it should be the set for a Disney movie (but unlike Neuschwanstein, the stuff here is actually from olden times, not from a mad, revisionist king). And Schoss Hirschhorn is one of the better castle ruins. When I visited one Tuesday in April 2016 the restaurant attached to the castle was closed, but they left the gate to the tower open. If you are up for climbing 7 flights of narrow stairs (after having ascended the hill to get to this castle) the view would be worth it, even if it were not free.

The castle is closed for renovation and the old landlord cancelled the rental contract , most likely it will be closed at least until next year but maybe even longer, you can still visit the castle but everything is locked

Beautiful scenic views on a Sunday afternoon drive. Lots of motor bikes traveling the back windy roadway. We had ice cream and coffee at the Rathaus near the marketplace. Quant little village to stop and enjoy a stroll down by the river.

Our stay was in October 2015.

Staying at this hotel will make you feel as though you have traveled back in time. The property is a restored castle, which sits high on a hill, overlooking the Neckar river.

On checking in, we were met by Mario, who was very friendly, and helpful. Our room was located in one of the buildings which are situated just below the main castle. The room was very large, comfortable, clean, and, had a beautiful view overlooking the town, and, the Neckar river. The room was not equipped with air conditioning. The only negative was that there were many steps from our room to the main castle, and, restaurant.

Our stay was just a stopover between destinations, so I can't comment on other activities that may be of interest in the surrounding area.

I would recommend this hotel to friends, and family.

Stunning location above the Neckar river and walking distance of the little town this is a lovely place to while away some time. We had a large room with great views and huge bathroom. Dinner was excellent in the restaurant which seemed very popular with locals. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent place to stay.

Make sure to double-double-check your booking - this Hotel keeps "forgetting" your booking, especially larger groups.

Beautiful location, quaint village nearby. An easy drive from Frankfurt, and a great location to do a number of day trips from as a "home base". Enjoyed it immensely.

My wife and I went for Valentines weekend a couple years ago, and had a wonderful time. Every room is different -- even saw the honeymoon suite which was gorgeous! Very, very quiet (on top of the hill). Service was wonderful and so close to the town and Neckar River. It is a definite to-do that is away from all the normal tourist attractions.
