We hired a taxi taking us to the Hanging Monastery in the morning and to Yunggang caves in the afternoon. It takes 1.5 hours from Datong and there's not much to be seen on the way. Road is good. Ticket price is an absurd 130 RMB if you want to get till the monastery and visit it inside, 30 RMB... More

Datong was a beautiful place to visit and the Hanging Monastery did not disappoint. The first views are jaw dropping and when you are inside the monastery it is a sight to behold. This is something very unique we spent approx. 1 hour there with a guide who explained the history and construction of the monastery. Well worth a visit... More
